Do any of you 60+ folks lift heavy? I'm currently working my way through New Rules of Lifting for Women. Would love to hear from other heavy lifters!

Ive just strted lifting free weights after 12 years doing 95% cardio and loosing 2½ stone in the process. So as yet I cant lift 'Heavy' but each week it goes up a little tiny bit.0

Any weight is heavy if you are just starting - keep it up! It is SO good for you - especially us "older" women - keeps the bones strong to ward off osteoporosis.0 -
It depends on what you mean by lifting heavy. I use both machines and free weights and lift as heavy as I can for three sets of 15 reps on each exercise. I am doing 20 pounds on arm curls and 15 on arm extensions. I leg press 100 pounds I don't know if you would consider these heavy weights or not, but they are heavy to me. .I have been at it since November and I'm working my way up.0

I just read weight lifting for dummies today and I have been using 5 pound weights every other day. I also use the machines at the gym which they say is good for you. I can't squat because of my knees but would like to lift more!0
