would love to hear from others who have done this as I am starting on this. according to scoobysworkshop that 1,709 calories. that way I can know what to expect as I go along and if anyone eats about 1700 calories please add me. I would like to know how much to eat 3 meals, 2 snacks, 3 meals 3 snacks etc. I am new to this and just starting out.

That's great you are doing this. 20% might be a too high, but see how it goes. Do you have a Fitbit or other gadget that helps with knowing your TDEE? I bought the Fitbit last fall and it is very good at telling me what my 24 hour burn is. I average around 2050 a day (used to be 2100-2150). 1900 on less active days. I eat at 16-17% deficit and that's my sweet spot. It took me a couple of months to find it. I keep a spreadsheet and make sure I'm moving every single day. I'm a DVD person, currently doing ChaLEAN Extreme 90 day program which is lifting/cardio... awesome!! Friend me if you would like and you can see how I eat. Usually about 1700 a day and I eat every 2-3 hours and drink a ton of water. Usually 3 meals with snacks in there when I'm hungry. Feel like I eat all day actually. Love Love Love MFP!

I dropped it to 10% after calculating it. I can see where 20% would be to high for me. my calories are 1,591 for 10%

that is eating 3 meals and 2 snacks so I will try this tomorrow to see how I do. thanks for being so helpful.

If you're taking a 20% cut and your cals are 1709 then your TDEE is 2136.

    So a 10% cut would be 1922.

You could cut up to 15%, so the minimum you should eat is 1815 a day!
