Love today's message!! This is sooo true. How many years did I use "time" as an excuse!!

So, May 1st!! Happy May Day!!! Usually in Greece, everyone has the day off and goes out picking wildflowers to make a wreath. This year they "moved" May 1st. haha, I don't understand it, but apparently everyone's supposed to work today and have Tuesday off. I guess it has to do with Easter this weekend.

Right now, I've got to hit my dumbbells and try to make my aching body do more squats and dips :indifferent: My son is due at his lessons this afternoon for the last time until next Wednesday (for the holiday), so I will hit the park and make some laps.

Let's all dig in and make May our month!! Summer is practically here....whether it be bikinis, sundresses, or sleeveless shirts...we all have our reasons to get pumpin' this month!!!

Morning... yes just like with anything you have to make the time. Yes by the end of this month I'd like to consider myself one step closer to my goals.

I agree with Sherry let's do this guys....May the month of May bring you the changes you want to see.

Good morning from California! I did not make it to the gym, HOWEVER, I found the time to get in an Insanity video, which was terrific. I'm really trying to switch up the cross-training days, and it seems to be helping. My goal is to feel good in less clothes in Miami in June, so May is key! Enjoy your day, and start the month off right!

    Good morning everyone

I looked at my schedule and I have exactly 12 weeks to my second half marathon. I am using the month of May to get my eating in check. I am also very busy this month with work and family so I am just going to try to stick to the running schedule. I am doing the Hal Higdon's Intermediate program for the half marathon and incorporating a couple days of strength training. My fiancé and I just bought Trek 8.6 DS and picking them up on Saturday and I am so psyched! ????????

I am ready to get motivated and push myself this month and the months to come! Here's to us!!!!

Hey all! I love all the enthusiasm for the new Month! It's good to think ahead...to 1/2 marathons and Miami trips and ALL our goals! And May is the month of Mother's day, so don't forget to workout extra hard now, so you don't have to turn down treats on that special day. ;-)

Today I did my dumbbells, but only 3 sets of each. I think a 4-set plan was ambitious, but I'll probably get up to it, in time...if I don't get bigger weights first. I did bunches of HG squats and dips, but still more to do tonight. Went to the park and it was such a scorcher in the sun. I did 12min running, then walked for a long time and then noticed the sun had gone behind some trees and shaded the hottest part of the park, so I ran another 12minutes, a little more walking, a stretch, a little more walking. It was great! Took my son for his favorite frozen yogurt afterwards, as well as some other shopping and then home. It was a very good day.

    Happy May Day all!

p.s. - Julie, what is the Trek that you are excited about??

    eta2:
I almost forgot the most important thing today....I think all the HG squats really helped with the running today. This is very exciting to me!!!!

Good Day May 1st!!!! Can you believe it??

I used to use time as an excuse YEARS ago and still hear it from many close to me. I am so thankful that over time I've overcome THAT excuse...LOL!!

Sherry: when I was a very young girl I was crowned the May Day Queen of our school :blushing: and it was such a big celebration with a lot of outdoor activities. I am not sure if schools in the area still celebrate. It really was such a fun time It so nice how Greece still celebrates, too. Hey...your doing 3 sets of different weight exercises is ideal! You either lift heavy doing a smaller number of reps per set (if your goal is muscle definition) or lift light weights doing a large number of reps per set (if your goal is toning). Your cardio session was awesome at the park!!

Jules: how many weeks do you train for a 1/2 marathon usually? Rooting you the best run ever when it is finally event time!

Carly: good workout session for ya!

    Toni: let's do this thang...lol!!

    Happy May Day Everyone!!:flowerforyou:

Pam, Nia is a dance exercise class that combines jazz, yoga, tai-chee, and a bunch of other stuff. Is a good work out and very zen at same time. It has really changed me for the better in many ways.

Not a lot of places offer it but you can go online to nianow.com and put in zip code to find out closest to you.

I moved to another room to sleep but still only got 6 hrs from 2-4am and then 6-10am after fans went off. Feel like crap. Sorry to be negative but a month of junky sleep is really pulling on me.

The weather is finally warming up so if fans go on tonight should be only a few hours and then off for the year since warm temps predicted.

I am going to try when I wake up better to do mini hike.

There is help for depression if the person seeks it. He has gone to counselors a few times and tried meds and now won't do any of them so I just try to keep him busy and that usually works to pull him out of it.

So far, I attempted my StrongLifts, but I got a twinge in my middle back on my first set of full weight squats and decided not to push it. It doesn't feel like anything major - just like when you lift one of the kids wrong. Going to have my husband check my form. I may start C25K today and take the kids for a jog. I vacuumed and mopped the floors in the house - they REALLY needed it.

Sounds like everyone has their head in the game for the month of May!

What muscle is that?!? I've had the same issues every once in a while, and I'd love to work on it.

Oh my goodness Marla, Yes! Nia! I looked into that awhile back. Maybe two years ago, when I was wondering how I was going to get into shape after my daughter was born. I saw the videos and thought how great it all seemed. But then Zumba kept showing up in all my facebook friends statuses, so I tried to find that. After awhile, I realized that (a) all classes of that type in Greece are at night, which is impossible for me, with family responsibilities, and (b) I've never taken a class before ever, so maybe I should start with something less intimidating. Thankfully I found MFP and that led me to Jillian Michaels dvd's and then to free internet workouts and so on and so forth. But YES, it looks wonderful! How great! Well, I hope that your husband can find his way. And I definitely hope that peaceful sleep is in the very near future for you!

Well I am so excited I finished my 5 mile run in 42:53 minutes which is a PACE of 8:35 min/ mile. I am excited about getting a dual sport bike so I can do trails and highway!

Pam: I am training for 12 weeks so I am good and prepared for the run! It starts off gradually and you build up the distance each week. I am going to run more than required since I have been already running. For instance today I was only scheduled to run 3 miles but I decided to run 5 miles instead.

Now I just have to get the energy to do a weight routine and maybe go on the rowing machine for 10 minutes!

    Have a great day Everyone!

Ugh, I don't know, but whatever muscle it is - it's a real BUMMER. :ohwell:

Julie, that's awesome! Congrats! Reading about running successes makes me want to become a real runner even more!

Liz, hope your back is okay. Wise decision to stop and not become injured.
