Tense Neck

I have a really bad habit of tensing my neck or shrugging my shoulders during the fly and lateral/deltoid raise movements. I can't seem to relax my neck at all during these moves. I have no desire to build up my neck muscles. Does anyone have any tricks or methods of keeping your neck muscles relaxed?
