HI, I have the same issues, but we shop at Farmers Markets, buy in bulk and freeze portions. Also Costco has good prices on meats and frozen veggies.
I like to buy my eggs from the farmers market, free range, flax fed for almost the same price as regular eggs from the grocery store, and we know they are fresh. Go to the market early to beat the crowds or right at the end of the day for the best deals, as people are getting ready to pack up and sell things off cheaper.
    Happy hunting,

    Hey!
I'm a student and I know all too well about shopping on a budget hahaha I agree with the above poster :)
What I do is that I make out a list of what I need and I know I will eat. I look for the best deals and prices on my food and then freeze it (Probably not the best to do but I've seen no harm yet :P) I even freeze my loafs of bread, I don't eat a lot of bread but what I do is that I divide it up into pieces per zippy bag and freeze so if I fancy bread I 'll just take one out, this makes my loaf last a month or so :) so much money saved on bread. hehehe frreze your fruits and veggies :) Can't really help you on dairy products, don't eat a lot of them myself but I will splash out on tofu :) good luck and feel free to add me :) also porridge, can be costly but when made a a small portion packed with fruits and made with water it saves you money and keeps you full :)

Thank you for your reply! Unfortunatly I don't drive so need to do most of my shopping at the supermarket or local shops! I do however already made the most of things getting marked down as i work with a local grossary store myself. Thank you. xx

Hello there, thanks for the responce!
The bread idea is a great one- I have tried it before but with freezing the full loaf not actually putting it into individual portions so i will defo give it a go ( i had to chuck out 3 loafs last week as myself, my partner & kids like 3 different kinds) & with them being back at school its was such a waste. Never tried the frozen fruits either but will give that a shot too! Do you buy them fresh then freeze them or do you just buy them already frozen?
    Thanks. xx

this is a great blog post about eating healthy on a budget: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2011/10/11/how-to-eat-healthy-without-breaking-the-bank/
it comes from a Paleo diet point of view, but most of it applies to healthy eating in general.

Thank you for your responce to my post. Would you just buy the banana's chop them & freeze them in a tub? I already freeze my pitta bread but have never thought of using it as a pizza base so thanks for the tip! Don't really know of anyone that has allotments n sell greens cheap but i will try asking around! xx
