Sounds like a good thing to me, but it's more than likely not really a bunch of new contractile tissue. When we use our muscles sufficiently, we make small micro-tears in the tissue and in order for your body to repair this "damage", it sends extra fluid to the area to help in the repair process. This is the normal cycle of muscle growth. There is also something the body builders look for called "pump" where extra blood flows to the area and makes the muscle feel tight. Us guys like that cause it makes us look more muscular, but it fades pretty quickly.0

I'm not an expert and I don't know what your fitness goals are but if you didn't intend to bulk from lifting then I'd say decrease the amount of weight you're lifitng Good luck!0 -
If you lift, you're going to increase in size. Not drastically, but you will. I noticed the same thing when I lifted regularly.0

Again, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Don't be afraid for some parts to look/get bigger. If you want to look/be healthy and strong, instead of weak and sickly, larger muscles are NOT a bad thing. Look a most fitness models vs runway models. The fitness models look 10 times better because they look healthy, strong, and have nice curves that most men find attractive. runway models look like stick figures and remind me of holocaust victims. I hope that's not your idea of what you should aspire to?0 -

when you work your muscles, they retain water like crazy.0

You probably look bulky because you have a layer of fat on top of your muscle. Keep at it and the fat will eventually go away.0
