Anybody else have issue with vitamins making them sick?

I have tried several different brands, and different forms of multi-vitmains (gummy,liquid, gel, capsule, etc.) and they all make me vomit. Within 5 or 10 minutes I'm running to a trash can. I have tried taking them on an empty stomach, with food, after a meal with plenty of water, and it just doesn't matter. Does this happen to anyone else?

Have you tried taking the before you go to bed on a full stomach?0

Yes! I found when I take mine at lunch it's better on my stomach.0

You totally have to take them after you eat.....and maybe take a few low doses of vitamins rather than a multi vitamin.0

My finance' had this same problem. Taking soft vitamins with a glass of milk seemed to be the best thing as the milk coated her stomach and soft vitamins were absorbed quickly.
The two people I would recommend talking to are: 1) Someone at vitamin/supplement store (like GMC) who knows there stuff. Mention your stomach problem to them and see if they have any products to help, but don't feel pressured to buy if it seems too expensive or not what you are looking for, and 2) Your doctor, who may have some prescription medication or good OTC suggestion for you to try. You doctor also may have some other remedy for a sensitive stomach that could solve your pill taking issue. It never hurts to ask.0 -
I have to take gummy children's vitamins. They have adult versions too, which I can tolerate in my stomach, just not my wallet.0

You probably need somthing that has no iron in it. Iron typically has that effect on most people and if you do not eat prior to taking it most people become ill.
I take Vitamin Code Raw for women and while it does have iron (it's only 33% RDA) it doen't upset my stomach. I also make sure to eat something starchy before hand (banana, oatmeal, or a granola bar).0 -
i am allergic to several kinds of the multi-vitamins and it makes me do the same thing. i switched to a children's gummy (juice plus) and i can tolerate it better. good luck!

So, if you're taking them with lots of food & water & are still getting sick, you may want to try cutting them in half and taking one half with breakfast and one half with dinner.
I don't have the problem but it seems to be very common. I take mine with a meal (like, in the middle of the meal) just in case but I'm pretty sure I've even taken them on an empty stomach before with no big problems. I'm generally not too much of a puker though. :laugh:0 -
I've found the same issue happen to me. I've since then switched to Emergen-c multivitamin (there are other generic cheaper versions available at drug stores as fizzy drinks). Because there's no boding agents like there are in most pills. I've been told this and Iron can cause the nausea. As a drink, there's no heavy, nauseous feeling in my stomach whether it's full or empty. If you're curious, try one packet first before buying a box because I've had friends tell me they would get the same nausea from this method as well.. It's another option, though!
For some reason I can't take any sort of vitamin at night or I won't be able to sleep. It's a bummer because I would prefer that method.0 -
I have found that my multivitamin makes me nauseous if I don't take it with a big meal. I take it with lunch, basically in the middle of the meal. So, I have food in my stomach, and then something to follow the vitamin, too.
I still wonder if multivitamins are really necessary, now that I'm eating a more balanced diet. The ones I take are pretty cheap, so even if I just get a little vitamin boost out of them, it's not a big investment.0 -
when I was pregnant, I was only able to take my vitamin at night. Otherwise I would be nauseaus for about 4 hours after taking them, even with food. Try it it may help!0

I had that problem when I took them in the morning - regardless of how much I had eaten. I switched to taking them after dinner and don't have the problem anymore.0
