Eating for your goal weight?

I visited fat2fitradio yesterday to do some calculations and re-set my goal (1200 wasn't working for me; big surprise, right?). I calculated what it would take to maintain my weight at goal and started wondering: would it make sense to start eating that amount now rather than being on weight loss rations and then going through a phase of increasing my calories to maintenance?

the amount you eat to maintain at any weight isn't going to vary that much, unless your maintenance level is far below what you're currently eating now (which would mean you're eating at a surplus and not at maintenance). so if your "maintenance" level is, say, 500 calories below what you're eating daily now, then yes you could do that. however i think that as you approached your goal weight it would get harder to lose the weight and you'd have to drop your calories anyway.
i hope that made sense.0
