A Decade of Fat --> ONEderland!! (pics galore)

I became a big girl once puberty hit. I thought fat was my fate.
High school
Last day of high school ~240
I lost some weight right before college and started right at 220.
Start college 220
But the Freshman 50 happened, and I wound up headed off for my third year abroad, tipping the scales at 269. I remember crying, hoping I wouldn’t be too fat to go, and being glad that the way the Dr. wrote her “6” made it look like 209.
So in 2010 I said **** this and started to change.
Hot day but scared to drink in the kiddie pool with everyone else because of how wet tank tops cling? Not me at ~230
I even started letting people photograph me in a swimsuit at 220!
Senior year in college consisted of lots of parties, lots of working out, and lots of thesis writing and energy drinks. I bounced between 210 and 220, happy just to maintain at the point and still reveling in my “new” body.
Here I am looking self conscious at Halloween 2010. That was the tightest outfit I’d ever worn in public to that point.
So happy to turn in my thesis March 2011
I spend 2012 working and maintaining. This is the one of the only pictures taken of me that year because I was working all the time.
I got my appendix out on Christmas and found MFP during my recovery. When I was weighed before the surgery I was 216. I joined here in early January at 208.6! When I was fully recovered I started the 30 Day Shred and running again. 15 days in, I fell and sprained my hip. Sidelined again. But this journey isn’t all or nothing for me, it is do as much as I can. Unable to stand to cook, I kept a close eye on the portions of the restaurant or boxed meals my boyfriend brought me and tried to offset the sodium with water. I stayed even, just happy not to gain while sitting on my *kitten* all day.
I’m off crutches now and back to healthy eating but my workouts are still very restricted. I’ve been dreading weighing in this week, but felt oddly light after my morning poo today. I hopped on the scale. 199.6. I got off and reset it. Back on. 199.6. WAIT WHAAAAAAA??? I weigh under 200lbs? For the first time since I was 13 (almost 12 years now) I WEIGH UNDER 200 lbs!!
Enjoying the meds after surgery at 216:
Back in the ER at 204:
And today, in my 2005 Homecoming dress that was too tight and is now too big! 199.6!!
Fast stats:
2009: 5’11, 269lbs, size 18 pants, XXL tops, 46D bust, size 10 wide shoe, prediabetic, BP 135/80, high cholesterol.
2013: 5’11, 199.6 lbs (can’t stop smiling when I type that), L women’s tops, M men’s t-shirts, 38C bust, size 9 curvy jeans, size 9 regular shoe, normal cholesterol, blood sugar, and BP 110/70
I haven’t kept track of my measurements but will from this point on. I plan on re-integrating aspects of the 30 Day Shred and I want to start lifting heavy. My goal of a 5k for my 25th birthday in June is on hold due to my hip so now I am shooting for a 5k Turkey Trot in November. I would like to get to 169 by the end of summer just to see what I look like 100 lbs lighter, and then will evaluate my BF%, muscle tone and composition, endurance, and physical appearance and decide where to go from there. MFP has made a difference for me. My wonderful friends here always have encouragement for me, keep me honest and healthy, and didn’t let me throw in the towel when I got hurt again. You are all SOOO WONDERFUL!!

I loved reading this. It's such a journey and reminds me of my own (minus the appendix and the hip!). Keep up the hard work and dedication. It's inspirational. A lot of people would have thrown their hands in the air in surrender after what's happened in such a short period of time. But you've pushed through. Congrats! Welcome to ONEDERLAND!0
