Previously I have been happy to use my Wii active at home but I am becomming a bit bored of it and wondering whether I should join a gym or not. Anyone on here a member of total fitness gyms? Are they worth the 37 pound a month fee? Its either that or join the local council run gym and I dont really fancy that!

I love going to the gym. It is some what motivating to me knowing I am getting out of the house to better myself but I have had more success with at home programs. It just depends if you want to spend the money on either!0

do u have a youfit around or a planet fitness???
those are both $10 a month.
in my opinion, join!! i only got active when i starting my gym membership..
before that, itried a couple of videos ..BORING .. i tried running outside (i almost died because florida heat has like NO OXYGEN!)
and then i tried running outside at times where there wasnt much sun, but then id have to see so many ppl stare! so many kids playing outside just watch in awe, lol so i took another route and then i had to stop every 20 seconds to cross a road.. so i have to stand there for the light to turn green.. what do i do?! jog in place?! NO! just stand there?! idk?! lol my HR is normal again by then.
anyways.. when i got the gym membership i was so thankful for my options and i go in the AM so its pretty empty. i love it!
run, elliptical, do some abs.. some arm toning moves... ooo then u can pee in between tooo lol nice clean bathroom with showers (that no1 uses)
wow sorry i wrote so much.. i just ate my banana and peanut butter lol
off to the gym, good luck!0 -
Im in the UK so theres none of those gyms around. In my opinion the total fitness gyms are probably worth spending a bit more on due to the much nicer facilities compared to the local council one. Hmm. I might ask for a look round first before committing to buy a membership.0

I hate the gym, I had a membership before and for me it was just a waste of money. I workout at home with DVD's and walking/jogging in my neighborhood. But you have to do whatever is going to work for you. In my opinion, it doesn't matter if you join a gym or workout at home - as long as you are committed to exercising either one will work.0

maybe they will let you do a one month trial for a fee?
I LOVE my gym. I am competitive so I love seeing what others do at the gym and learning from them. I work out much harder than I would have at home. I work out harder at the gym even than when I am running. If you have the money, join one.0 -
I belong to a gym in the US that costs $50/month and it's worth every penny. While I prefer to get my exercise outdoors, it's not always possible (weather, daylight factors) so I finally broke down and joined. I love the variety it affords me: I can do cardio on the machines and use a multitude of strengthening devices, I can take any number of classes from pilates, yoga, spin, kickboxing, zumba, bootcamp, and of course your basic aerobics stuff as well. They even have some dance classes (Ballroom and hip hop!)And there is a pool, so I also mix in lap swimming into my weekly workouts. There are basketball and raquetball courts as well, but I don't use those...IMO, it is worth it. Go for it! Especially if you are getting bored with your current routine.0

certainly am tempted as i love swimming and the gym i want to join as a pool thats just for adults to swim properly in and children are kept in the family pool! amazing
also ive started loving the step areobics on the wii active so i want to try a real step class! The money isnt much of a problem at the moment so I think I may well go for it! 0 -
I have to say I HATE the gym. So boring! After 5 minutes I feel like I've been there for years! I've joined about 4 gyms in the past and end up leaving after a few weeks because I find it so mind-numbing. I much prefer walking and aerobics. Have you not tried My Fitness Coach on the Wii? I like that one.0

no ive not tried that one. the trouble is that once i get home from work now I dont want to do the exercise - i clean up and sit down and then thats it i dont want to do any more. so I was thinking about joining a gym thats close to home but also on the way home from work so that im more likely to go. Ive got a new job that means I need to be physically quite strong and its very stressful. Even if its just to go sit in the hydro pool or swim a few laps to relax it would be worth it. Ive been trying to find out some more information about the gyms near me and there only seems to be one thats got a complete package and thats total fitness. Does anyone know what the rules are about guest passes for total fitness? I need to go see the facilities I think to be able to make a proper decision.
