Binges

I have binged the past two days, and I feel like my body wants every junk food in the world yet again. I've tried drinking tons of water, doesn't help...I drink diet soda....does anyone else find that drinking one helps?
I'd rather drink 3 diet drinks a day than binge on 3000 cals in 1 hour...you know?

i hate when that happens! it's like you get your body away from all of the junk foods and it takes so much hard work to stop craving them, and then bam, one slip up and you want them all over again. i struggle with this a lot!
suggestions i've read to curb binging habits are: teeth brushing, diet soda (fizzyness helps fill the tummy), making a cup of tea and reading a book until the urge passes, making a recovery playlist and listenting to it when things get hard, paint your nails, do an at home spa treatment...
hope some of these can help ya

Do you have set cheat meals during the week? That helps me. I don't over do it, but I allow myself things I would not normally have.0

Maybe eat foods that increase your sensitivity to Leptin? Beans, nuts, leafy green vegetables & fish! I dont know if this will help but Leptin is the hormone that sends signals to your brain that its satisfied...I remember reading this somewhere:) Im gonna try to do this myself...Or, cut ALL sugar, including fruit, for a little bit. Sugar gives you cravings even if its natural sugar.0

Very interesting information!! I just went to Wikipedia to check out Leptin, and it certainly has a powerful impact on hunger, weight gain and metabolic rate. I also went to this website: http://www.wellnessresources.com/weight/articles/the_five_rules_of_the_leptin_diet/
Definitely adding some of this to my eating plan. There are lot of links to sites that discuss this.
Very interesting stuff!!!!! I'm going to post a topic on it and see what we get...

A personal question, but what stage are you in your menstrual cycle? I find that about a week before i'm due on, my body just craves junk food, and then after the week on my period, on the first day back on my contraceptive pill, my body just goes mad and i can't resist the binge on chocolate biscuits and popcorn and crisps! I know some people get the craving to binge when they are actually on their period. Maybe this has something to do with it?0

How was your calorie intake before the binges? Sometimes severely restricting calories can lead to bingeing, and some people even find that moderate restrictions can have the same effect (if your profile pic is current, it doesn't look like you have much, if anything to lose, so having a very large calorie deficit would be counter-productive). Not saying this is your issue, but might be something to think about.
Also, are you logging everything? When I feel out of control with my eating, I find that logging everything, and getting back into a good routine, planning what I'm going to eat, and sticking to that... all that can really help.
I don't know if you normally avoid all junk food. For some people, that can lead to binges. Some people find it helps to completely cut out that kind of food, whereas others find it works better to eat a little of what you want each day, but fit it into your overall goals.0 -
I have recently discovered that exercise helps me when I feel a binge coming. So when I get this strange sensation at the back of my throat and keep opening the biscuit cupboard "just to have a look", I put a fitness DVD on and sweat for half an hour.0
