Progress Pictures :(

I've been reading everywhere that progress pictures are supposed to help a lot, especially with encouraging you to keep going and reassuring you that there is a difference. But I just looked at my photos, which are about 3 weeks apart, and I'm extremely discouraged. I can't see any differences, and I'm not sure if that's just me, the photos were bad, or if I actually haven't changed a bit.

I'm extremely disappointed, but I'm not sure if I'm just being too self-critical. Has anyone experienced this?

  • 3 weeks isn't very long, I would say 6 weeks minimum to see noticeable change unless you are working out HARDCORE. Hang in there! Also, not just pictures, but you should take measurement to compare. Often times there is tiny changes along the whole body instead of just one area making it difficult to see visually for a while

Hi three weeks might not be long enough to see any change. It all depends on how tall you are, how much you have to loose, etc. As long as your clothes are feeling looser and you are feeling better and different that is all that matters. I don't really feel like I have lost much, only try and weight myself when I really really want to, otherwise I get to down as not lost much or none or put on. Hubby advised to me that I have lost heaps and look good, but I can't really see anything. I always feel that if you look at something everyday you won't see the cahnge. while if you don't see it for a long time you can see the cahnge easier. Sorry rambling on here. hope this helps, but keep it up as one day you will look in the mirror and think who is that lovely slim lady I don't know her! Oh that's me.

Why don't you post the pictures on here and see if anyone can see the difference between them? I'm sure there is some differences, but it's going to be harder for you to see, since you see yourself everyday.

    Have you been taking measurements?

^^This! I've been at this journey for 3 weeks and lost 3kg but there's no way I'd be seeing any noticeable changes yet! I don;t expect to see them for at least another month or so. I can see that scale going down and I'm enjoying my workouts so that's all that matters for now. Stick with it! It's hard work, but I know it's going to be worth it!

Edit: My ticker says 2kg, but I'm naughty and weigh twice a week LOL keeps me motivated which is weird as most people think it's counterproductive.

Try taking your pictures in the same spot, same poses, same clothes once a week on the same day. At the end of a few months youll have a nice flip book of progress.
  • way too self-critical. <3 do you feel healthier? do you know you're eating healthier? Do you know you're exercising better/more? ain't nothing wrong with that. give yourself a mental high5. haha progress is progress... even if it's not dramatic.
  • One day you'll wake up, look in the mirror and realize you're exactly as beautiful outside as you feel on the inside. Don't be too hard on yourself! Everything good to those who wait (and work their butts off!)

Thanks for all of the support, guys!

Maybe you guys can give me a bit of feedback that could help me. Recently, my biggest achievements have been involving running. I've been able to run longer (or jog. still slow running. :p), and push myself even further. But as far as physical results go, should I get into weight lifting to assist my goals of muscle definition?

I just realized how stupid and newbie-ish that sounds, but it's an honest question. I basically want to know what the best route is for me.

Weight lifting (resistance training) will most definiely help.

Three weeks is nothing. Progress is a very slow process. For reference, the tiny bit of progress I have in these shots( http://www.picisto.com/photos/picisto-20130223172706-937505.jpg ) took TEN TIMES longer than you've given yourself, but even the tiny change there is enough to keep me going further:

Give it a solid year, three weeks is barely off the starting line.

3 weeks isn't long! Also, take measurements! They really help.
