Sweat

This might sound funny, but when I workout I sweat and not just a little. I'm soaked. Hair soaked and clothes soaked. I look around and no one is as soaked. Is it a good thing that I'm sweating that much? I wear a heart rate monitor, my heart rate is always ok.

Does not sound funny I am the same way. I have sweat marks everywhere it is quiet embarrasing at times because guys stare even more lol. Looks like I got out of the shower. I feel like people know I am working really really hard. But times I am like geesh I sweat too much hahaha :)

Some people sweat a lot. Some people don't.

Sweat doesn't have an impact on weight loss - people like to think that the more they sweat, the better their workout was, but that's not true.

I'm a heavy sweatter and I've learned to just accept it.
  • Eh, I have ALWAYS sweat a lot. When I was bigger I would sweat just standing there LMAO so now it at least feels good to only sweat so much when I am actually doing something. Even my forearms sweat. Eww...

I'd say it's relatively normal. Some people just sweat more than others. Just make sure to rehydrate yourself properly and you should be good to go.

Glad I'm not alone. I have found over the last year it has increased. I get stares at times. Ugh

I don't typically sweat a lot where I currently live. I have friends who can break a sweat sitting down in a walk-in cooler. Sweat's a good indicator of your body's response to heat and/or exertion, but not a good indicator of the heat and/or exertion level itself.

I sweat a LOT. LOL. This morning at my Boot Camp class I was literally dripping with sweat by the end. I've always been that way. It's my normal. Other people seem to sweat much less - I just figure that everyone is different.

haha um.... one time i got up from a weight bench, looked down and saw a big sweaty bum print i'd left on the bench. that was embarrassing. I still don't know, or want to know, how sweaty my bum actually looked in those grey lululemon pants...

I'm a sweater too. Especially from my face.

I always have a towel with me at the gym.

The fact that you've been sweating more in the last year is actually a good sign! As you become more fit your body becomes more efficient at cooling itself down and as a result tends to sweat sooner and more.

Of course there are also other reasons why different people sweat different amounts but if you find you're sweating more than you were before and you're also fitter now than you were then, this is likely why.

Citation, please? Some of the folks I know who sweat the most have the highest body fat percentage, so I'm curious where you get the "as you become more fit. . . [you] tend to sweat sooner and more" assertion.

It's not an unreasonable assertion, though I do agree it's suspect and unverified.

However, it also makes sense that fat people sweat more. They have a larger mass to surface area ratio, so thermoregulation is more difficult; they have more heat to shed and not a proportionally larger surface area from which to do it. Lean people also have better vascularization near the surface of the skin, which makes shedding heat easier. This is also why thin people often get cold more easily than fat people.

well, between two people its no indication of the level of work. but if its you comparing to yourself, and the room temp is the same and you have no fever then its a fair guess that if your sweeting more your working harder.

When i did insanity in the summer months (no AC) i had to leave my shirt ON. if i didn't leave it on to soak up some of the sweat, then my sneakers would be soaked. I mean as if i had stepped in a puddle, and they'd still be wet by the next day!!!!

I took an LA boxing class after i had finished my first round of insanity. I sweat my freakin *kitten* off. I looked around and not a soul was dripping like me. also noticed that they were rather lightly swinging thier arms when i was going to haymakers the whole time lol.

Girl I love sweating. It means I'm doing something. Nothing is more satisfying than busting my butt in a workout and feeling the sweat drops just pour off me. :)
