Salt. over one day ok?

So it's grilling season and of course that brings out the bratwursts. I had some last night and for lunch today. The sodium content for 2 is over 1900mg of sodium. I have thought that if I drink more water it will flush all the excess salt out. I finally found an article that talks about water counteracting the sodium and learned it doesn't matter how much extra water you drink, the body holds in sodium.

here is the article. my question is what if I go over one day? Do you think it will make me retain water more even if its one day? I am doing way better at maintaining my sodium intake (I am a severe saltaholic) but I have been doing so much better. i just dont want to set myself back but enjoy some foods.

Once in a while you're probably ok. You may notice a bit of water retention for a day or so. I've also cut down on the salt intake and try not to eat sodium heavy the two days before my weekly weigh in. I look for lower sodium/no salt added products and compare labels. Maybe you can find a brat that's just as tasty but lower in salt.0

It won't make any difference if its only on occasion. Its like one bad meal won't make a person fat just like one good meal, won't make that person skinny either.0

it may take a couple of days for you to flush out the sodium. No big deal.0

It's not about what you do some of the time that makes a big difference in your health, it's what you do all the time that has the effect. You're fine if you went over once. It might take a few days to flush out - but onwards and upwards!0
