I'm rarely home with my crazy schedule. I spend most my time at work (which has a fridge, microwave, toaster).
I'm getting bored with my chicken salads. Any easy, quick, cheap low cal meal ideals I can prep for work? (I usually grab some fruit or pack a small sandwich for night classes.
Thanks!

if you have a microwave...
I've really enjoyed healthy choice 100% natural meals. No preservatives either, and the calorie counts are decent.
Also, you can cook food ahead of time and heat it up in the microwave. I usually bring leftovers of pasta, or pizza, or chicken and veggies.0 -
I love having a cinnamon rasin bagel toasted and then spread peanut butter on it, come to a little over 400 calories.0

does GF mean gluten free here? just checking. im a celiac... feel free to take a gander at my diary. i rarely spend time "cooking".0

Oops, I should have said Girlfriend. Only emphasizing I have very little team for much else.
I tried healthy choice a few weeks back. They were great I just took a break for some change.
Bagel sounds great.
I've been looking at a lot of low calorie meals that seem pretty good. I know pairing my protein with lots of veggies should help. I'm just hoping to have a bunch of new stuff to try out so I know what to put on my shopping list for this weekend0 -
I love chicken avocado and swiss wraps for work. Usually under 350 cals with some fruit0

work third shift, am a full time student, and have 5 kids 8 and under.
I normally eat oatmel with peanut butter most evry night, hard boiled eggs, hummus and veggies or reduced fat wheat thins, the green giant steamers I make them a meal all on its own, wraps, Tuna with chipolte mayo, cabbage rolls made with turkey, greek yogurt w/ protein powder, prepared bbq grilled chicken breast..I like it cold. There are tons of options!0 -
Hello from a full time uni student, lone parent of toddler and part time care worker..
I prep a salad, put the dressing in a little bottle and make some veg snacks for uni days lunches. For dinners I do a lot of stuff in the slow cooker, you could prep things beforehand, freeze them then nuke them at work. Or you could plan your dinners so you have some stuff left over for the next day. I sometimes cook extra chicken in the evening so I have some ready for my salad in the morning.0 -
The cinnamon rasin bagel with 2 tablespoons of Peter Pan whipped and creamy comes to 390 calories. I usually have the emerald breakfast on the go mix with it. You could do this when you get bored with the other stuff. I have this twice a week and love it.0

if you have a fridge, the possibilities are almost endless right now, i'm really big into making meatballs in 1-2 pound batches. i freeze them on the tray when they come out of the oven so they don't form a giant meat ice cube and then store them in a gallon ziploc. about 5 of them is a good sized protein portion for a meal and they just take a minute in the microwave. i pack salad greens or veggie sticks of some sort and then mustard or bbq sauce for dipping both meatballs and veggies. 2 tupperware, 1 minute in the microwave, feels like a 'real' meal instead of just a wrap all the time.
i'm also a gigantic fan of egg salad in pita pockets. less bread than a regular sammich and edible with one hand
much luck to you from another full time student gf with a job!0 -

Tuna with chipotle mayo sounds great! Thanks for the idea!
Also, HOW DO YOU DO IT!? lol :noway:0 -
I am in the same boat as you. I do things that are easy like wraps or leftovers for lunch. Crackers and cheese, fruit, oatmeal, yogurt, granola/protein bars, bananas and peanut butter, cinnamon raisin toast (like 80 cals a slice) the possibilities really are endless.0

Thanks guys! This has given me so many ideas! I usually prep lunch for the week with my boyfriend on the weekend. We grill pounds and pounds of chicken. I'm just going to start getting more creative with it now. Going to make some soup this weekend low-sodium and tons of veggies)
Meatballs sound great...I'm thinking of making turkey or chicken.0 -
Shamless plug (sorry!) but my food diary blog might give you some ideas - ameliasfooddiary.wordpress.com
