Recommend me a good workout DVD? Ideally one that is more about strength than cardio, and low impact on knees! I like things that use your own body weight to work you out... I also have 5lb dumbbells, but no other weights or anything. Any suggestions? I've got 30DS but I can feel my knee beginning to flare up even though I'm modifying stuff.

X-Train all out HIIT low impact by Cathe Fredrich. I have it and really get a great workout. One segment uses a step, one uses glider discs and one uses 5lb weights. You can modify and not use any equipment if you don't want to. College Video allows you to play a clip of the DVD so you can have a better idea of what is like.0

My favorites are the Jari Love "Get Ripped" series. Her DVDs are strength training and easy to follow. I've had knee surgery twice and her workouts do not bother my knees. She does have a few in the "Extremely Ripped" series which do quite a few lunges. I tend to stay away from those. My favorites are her "Get Ripped to the Core" and "Get Ripped and Chisled". Both are gentle on the knees. Each of the DVDs is done in segments so you can always skip a particular exercise if it bothers your knees.:flowerforyou:0

I like Tony Horton's older series, The Power 90. You can do the workouts in 30 minutes. It comes with 2 strength DVDs and 2 cardio DVDs. I actually skip the cardio DVDs and just do the strength. There's nothing high impact on the knees.0 -
I personally loved doing Tae Bo Cardio Bootcamp. Insanity and P90x are great as well, but they seem a bit trend/fadish so I'll mention them but will keep my recommendation for Tae Bo.
I used to do yoga before to stretch, then follow up with Tae Bo Cardio Bootcamp, then do a bit of stretching exercises to cool down.0 -
I've tried 2 programs that focus on toning more than cardio that are low impact for the most part:
ChaLean Extreme - best & quickest toning results, fun, engaging, uses heavy weights in shorter sets to build lean mucles in you main muscle groups. Wal-Mart sells a $20 Gold'Ghm 40lb weight set, buy 2 and you will have enough weight to complete the program or a set of resistance bands that goes up to 30lbs would work. There's a cardio video (kickboxing & plyo) you do once a week with 5 days of burn circuits that are low impact but still incorporate movement. Chalene Johnson is motivatingand explains everything in a way that it feels like she's talking directly to you. All of her programs maximize the workout time so you get a quick efficient workout.
Tracy Anderson's Metamorphosis is also focused on toning - there's 1 daily cardio video that was way too much jumping for me butthe toning videos are effective. Uses minimal equipment - 5lb handweights I think - and focuses on your smaller accessory muscles. I found her videos to be boring and repetitive after a few weeks but I did get results.
I hope you find something that works for you!0 -

Tae Bo is my fave.
But not hard on knees? In all seriousness, Richard Simmons. I know people joke but when I want to get a good work out but not in a super serious mood, I'll through in one of his DVD's.0 -
Can't recommend any DVDs but I can recommend supplies that come with their own and youtube workouts to use them: Suspension trainer and sandbags kits. Best tools you can use to do strength training at home while helping injury prevention.0
