Night eating, Help!

I find that I can do really well all day long eating the right things. But at night, if I wake up, I always grab the worse thing to eat and that blows it for me. Even when I take a nap I wake up hungry and do the same thing. Can anyone tell me if they have the same problem and what they do about it. I buy junk food because of my son and husband and I try to buy things I don't like but that doesn't always work out. I need control.

i have the same problem. It bites! I have yet to figure out a trick to get me to stop, but I do keep my snacking to only dry cereal and peanut butter in measured portions ( most of the time) as cereal is so much easier to just grab out of the box but I just hate not knowing what damage I did the next morning if I do not measure my portions ahead of time. The closest I have got to control is accepting I will eat in the middle of the night and measure it out before sleeping since I will be weak upon waking and too lazy to measure/weigh portions. Not a perfect science yet, but working on it.
I wish I had better advice for you, but I am weak in this area also. Will power is not not my strength when relaxed. If you figure out any tips that help let me know..and I will do the same.:flowerforyou: For now just enjoy your beautiful Sunday And try try try again. TTTA0 -
I agree! Night time is my worse time. I can sabotage my whole day in the evenings. I just have to tell myself over and over, FOCUS. I also get on Facebook and look at pictures of my thin friends (I know this is weird, but it does help my focus and will power). I also tell myself that it is ok to go to bed not being stuffed like a pig. Every night is a struggle.
There was a late night eating group that I used to be part of that did seem to help.
Here is another weird thing I have contemplated doing but haven't done yet. And that is to tape my pantry and refrigerator door shut just as a reminder to not eat at night. Weird, I know. But whatever it takes!0 -
I don't need to eat if I wake up in the middle of the night to unless I am really hungry. Then I eat something, like a meal replacement bar, drink a big glass of water and then go back to bed. I do like to snack in the evening, so I make sure I factor that in to my calorie count for each day so I leave myself some 'night time snacking calories" :-)0

I walk in my sleep and eat. I find evidence the next morning.0

A few years back when it was the time of the month that always blows my diet, I woke up covered in blueberry pie. But I was still quite thin back then lol.0

Maybe we can all think of different tricks to stop this sabotage and see what works. I just wish I could sleep an entire night without waking up.0
