Hi everyone,
I have less than 12 weeks to lose at least a stone, and drop at least a dress size, in order to look semi-decent in a bridesmaid dress. I can do it up easily enough, but it is a bit on the tight side, and makes me look like I have a partially inflated rubber rind around my belly/hips.
The trouble is, I can't seem to stick to any plan at all! I keep intending to exercise. I keep intending to stick to a certain amount of calories a day. But when it's time to exercise, I'm too tired or not in the mood, and I seem to eat everything in sight!!
I could really do with a helping hand/kick up the backside to get in the zone and stay there. So if any of you lovely people are willing to help me out, I would be extremely grateful.
Thank you!

Look this program is a great education. What you need to do is before ANYTHING crosses your lips...look it up. Once you realize the wasted calories in sooooo many food you would rather have something that give you a quantity with better health factors. at least that is what is working for me.
Remember everyone is different all you have to do is want it bad enough and stick to it.
YOU CAN DO IT! YOU HAVE PLENTY OF TIME! AND YOU WILL GET PLENTY OF SUPPORT HERE.0 -
Wow, you've lost 40lb, well done!
Thank you for your reply, I appreciate it. I might just try your suggestion of looking up the calories before I eat, instead of adding it to my diary after I've swallowed it. Actually, the more I think about it, the more I am realizing that's an excellent tip.
My two problems are being too lazy to exercise, and not being able to control eating/snacking in the evening. I guess if I try to replace snacking with dancing or something, that would help. I just have to get my big fat butt in gear :-)0 -
I love looking at a menu (I eat out A LOT) and when I see a "Salad' that has almost 1000 calories BOOM!!! the light goes on and I realize i can have a grilled chicken with rice and veggies that is half the calories of the "salad".
DANCE! it''s great exercise and works a ton of muscles. They sell dance workout videos, and they do work. My pudgy little teenage daughter was grounded a summer and did DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) for 2 months loosing over 20lbs and it toned her body in ways that just PISS a father off.
You have decide, you want this and stick to it. For myself I am strict all week and well Friday at 5pm forget MFP and just make sensible choices for my meals.
12 weeks is plenty of time to get the shape that will make YOU smile.0 -
Yep, definitely log BEFORE you eat it. Helps a lot. Also, if you log it, see how much it is, and still want it. Then exercise to earn it! Try to get up just 25 minutes earlier in the day and do a 15 minute circuit (I use the sworkit app on my phone). If you do that every day, that's almost 3 hours of exercise in a week. This works better for me rather than trying to get to the gym for an hour workout 3 times a week (as I inevitably am not in the mood).0

Thank you both for your encouragement and advice.
I am really struggling with this, I seriously can't get into the zone I need to be in. But I know that if I don't do something now, I will really regret it in a couple of months.
Nicola, I've been setting my morning alarm 30 minutes earlier for this very reason, but I just can't get up, I'm so exhausted. It's a vicious circle. Tomorrow, I will force myself to get up and at least do some yoga stretches. From next Monday, I will be doing a 28 day exercise programme, so that will help. I have started cycling to work, so that's a little over 15 minutes each week day. Although I do need to do a lot more, I know.
Ed, I too love to eat out, my downfall is southern fried chicken and mayo or creamy sauce. Though I did have fajitas the other day, they weren't as bad as deep-fried chicken & chips :-D It's the extras too that get me. I eat when I'm bored. And I'm bored a lot! :-) Well done to your daughter! And yes, I'm a bit jealous lol. I will have to force myself to do 15-20 minutes of dance/zumba/aerobics every evening. And I might take a leaf out of your book and relax slightly on the weekends.
Thanks guys, I appreciate you taking time to post messages. And well done to you both for getting so far on your weight loss journeys.0 -
Maybe take some time today to plan out what fits into your calories?
So you could plan a weeks worth of breakfasts, lunches and dinners (plus two snacks!). That would set you up for a weeks worth of staying with in a calorie goal.
Exercise will help for certain (plus it'll mean you can have a little evening snack as well!). It seems you aren't doing much exercise at the moment so ANY extra exercise at this point will help and will help break the evening snacking as well.
Take a walk! Around the block, around a local park, up the street and back. Walk briskly not only will this add to your calories burnt but if you do it during your usual snack time it may help get rid of late night snacking.
I too used to snack late into the evening. What really helped me: Having a 5pm snack, this gets me through till 7pm, then I head to the gym (some days). I then have dinner around 8/8.30 and soon its close to bed time. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids during the day0
