Okay, guys I'm doing an experiment on the benefit of eating with chopsticks over forks. I was wondering if anyone would like to join in this experiment. It is two weeks long and there are four check in periods so you can post progress.

The idea of using chopsticks instead of forks comes from a hypothesis that the reason Asian countries with people who do use chop stick tend to have a healthy weight because using chopsticks apparently allows you to eat slower. It is believed that your body takes about 10-15 minutes to recognize that it is full; eating slower allows you not to over eat and miss that 10-15 min. period.

Okay, whose in?

:explode: IMPORTANT :explode: : I acknowledge that every Asian country is different so there are multiple variables in their diets such as portion size and types of food. This is to test one variable concerning if there is significance in utensil type in regards to losing and maintaining weight.

Inbox me for more information and questions.

I would but I royally suck with chopsticks and I would die of malnourishment before being able to eat with them.
  • That's unfortunate.

Have you ever watched someone from Japan or China eat with chopsticks? They can clean up a bowl of noodles faster than I can do it with a spoon (not saying they always do, but...). I actually find it easier to eat some foods with chopsticks and I'm way not an expert user.
  • That's all fine. The idea is to see which utensil is easier to pace yourself with and if your willing to do the challenge you can practice.

I think you might want to watch some people who grew up eating with chopsticks... it's only slow if you learned as an adult.

I learned as an adult, and I find it quicker and easier to eat many things with chopsticks.

Wouldn't work at all for me. I was raised on Korean food and can put away a bowl of noodles faster than you can ask what's in the kimchi.
  • Well, I think you might have a point there.
