Workout Advice

Hello All,
It's actually been a while since I signed on here. I achieved my weight loss goal back in December, and have (so far) been able to keep it off since.
I'm currently training for a half marathon in October (I actually ran 13 miles a couple weekends ago), so I consider myself to be in fine shape. I have no real complaints and am constantly amazed with how different I look in the mirror.
However, I think my body shape can be classified as "skinny fat". At least, that's the term I've seen bandied about, and from the pictures I've seen online it seems about right. I don't think I am "skinny fat" in the medical sense, as I am actually quite fit. It's more of how I look, and I'm sure it's just leftover from my previous weight. It's still WORLDS better than where I was a year ago, but I would love to be able to look in the mirror and say, "DAYUM!".
So, to that end, I was hoping I could get some advice for a good workout regime, either video or something I could track on my own. I currently run 3 days a week (5 miles, 5 miles, and 10 miles), and I would like to keep a day as an "off day", so ideally I'm looking for a workout that is 2-3 days per week that focuses on either reducing body fat or toning up what I've got. I've put together my own collection of workouts (7 minute workout, variety of weight workouts, Gorilla workout app, 200 situps, etc.), but it just doesn't seem to be as effective as I would like.
Finally, I don't really have much equipment and don't have access to a gym. I do have some dumbbells, but that's really about it.
If anyone has some advice, or even could point me towards a site/app that could help me create my own workout, that would be fantastic.
Cheers!

Go to fitnessblender.com its a free site. You can sign up and save your fav workouts all for free. Also you can customize your workouts to how many mins, diff, and area you want to work. There is even a section to put what equipment you have. Its awesome.0

Muscleandstrength.com has a dumbbells only routine you could try, but if you don't have dumbbells that go fairly heavy, you'll stall quickly. Check out nerdfitness.com, there's some bodyweight workouts there. Lots of people suggest You Are Your Own Gym and Convict Conditioning on here as well. While they're bodyweight exercises, they do progress, so while they're not really mass gaining programs, I think you can gain functional strength and hang on to your muscle while losing the last bit of fat.0

I second the Fitness Blender suggestion. They're my new best friends.
You might also look into bodyweight training - Convict Conditioning, You Are Your Own Gym, etc.0 -
Thank you for the suggestions! FitnessBlender is a killer site! I only poked around for 10 minutes or so and already found some great workout routines. I also really like the dumbbell routine at MuscleandStrength.
Cheers!
I already do a bodyweight training program that has been great in terms of building muscle and general conditioning. It just hasn't helped much with body fat burning for me personally. I'm going to give these other programs a fair shake.
Again, many thanks for the guidance!0 -
It's not your workout program that burns body fat. It's your caloric deficit. You can do all the training in the world, but if your diet is crap, you'll have fat. Obviously, certain workout programs will burn more calories than others, thereby giving you a greater daily deficit. Also, you may see more noticeable differences if lifting heavier as you retain muscle while losing fat. It's unlikely you'll see much muscle gain without eating at a caloric surplus and lifting pretty heavy.0

Thanks for the advice. I constantly rides a bicycle, and don't wont to give it up til it played out.0

A couple neat ideas for equipment:
Get a duffle bag, fill it with sand. squat it, row it, throw it around, ground n pound it. Have fun and go wild with it.
Do a b@#^h run. Take a backpack, fill with some ballast, and take off on a run. A good place to start is to fill it with water, so you can drink and it lightens up.
Cut wood. Cords of it.0 -
I live in Vermont and wood is our source of heat in the winter. Trust me when I say I am no stranger to splitting and stacking wood. Best workout in existence, no doubt.
Great idea with the duffle bag, as well. I'll keep that in mind.
Thanks again!0
