Kind of messed up; how to get back on track

Today I think I messed up pretty bad, and am feeling down about it.
My best friend told me that she was making this soup for the first time and that she wanted me to try it. (I'm in culinary school so she's always asking me to do these kinds of things). It was some kind of crab bisque and at the tine I wasn't really thinking and I ended up having two bowls of it. Now if you didn't already know, crab bisque is made out of heavy cream, which is sooo fattening and full of calories! I feel like I've totally screwed up my progress.
I was already almost to my calorie limit when I ate the soup so I know I went over... Ugh how do I stay on track here and not give up?

Hi Leigha,
So, today you ate too much of that wonderful, delicious soup
 and went over your calorie limit.
Don't worry about it, we all go over calories sometimes.
Any moment after you do something that makes you mad at yourself is a new moment. This moment, this breath, forward movement.
Tomorrow is a new day.0 -
Going over one day is not the end of the world - it happens. Please don't get discouraged. Keep your chin up!!!0

Don't stress out about it. You are only human! It's only 1 day. We have all done it. If you really feel guilty about it, just pick up the exercise tomorrow.0

So that is over and done with and now you are re-committed and back on track.
If you went over than you went over but remember that your calorie limit is setup so that you are already on a calorie deficit so for today you didn't hit the deficit but you most likely hit around your maintenance calories so you probably did not damage you progress, you just wont reap the benefits of today. Which actually I have found it to be better for weight loss overall to hit maintenance calorie intake every once in awhile and sometimes go over.
So long story short. Don't beat yourself up about it. You didn't mess up for a day, you messed up for a meal and you can INSTANTLY recommit. Just don't be one of those people that says something like "I'll start again on Monday morning." That's exactly how you fall off the wagon. Have a good weekend Leigha.0 -
Unless you do it everyday, it wont make a dent in your deficit.0

One bad meal wont mess up your progress just like one salad wont make you reach you goal. As long as it is not every day you will be fine but I know the guilt kills me too :happy:0

You're gonna have bad meals and bad days. If you stay on track, it isn't going to hurt your progress in any significant way. Today I went to a Greek Festival and had a blast eating what was probably tons of calories, I just made sure to exercise and have a light dinner. You live in the real world, don't beat yourself up!
You're doing great! Keep it up!0 -
Tomorrow is another day.
It's good to have "cheat meals" every now and then. 0 -
It must have tasted lovely your friend must have felt that it was a great compliment that you had two bowls.
If she asks you to try other dishes why don't you dig out a tiny bowl or something small like a ramekin dish to use so you can just have a taster.0 -
No way no how does one meal undo all your progress! I even hesitate to call it a "set back" because it was just one day, but that being said, setbacks are part of the journey. You learn how to adjust to life when they happen. There is no such thing as eating perfectly all the time. Doesn't exist. So, the key is to learn how to handle the inevitable ups and downs. I think it's a far bigger concern that you feel so bad about it! I say that with kindness... don't stress! The stress is bad for you! Tomorrow is another day.0

**** happens sometimes. Get up, brush yourself off and continue. If everyday was perfect, then life wouldn't be a challenge. It's the one's who get back up that succeed. Those that quit will always regret.Today I think I messed up pretty bad, and am feeling down about it.

Log it. It's probably not quite as horrible as you think … you're likely only over by a few hundred calories, and if you've been keeping to a decent deficit the rest of the week, you may do better than break even  Even if it ends up being as awful as you're afraid of, it's good to see where it really is, as well as create accountability: when I say "well, I've screwed up today, there's not point in even logging it" I tend to go way over, but if I log anyway and see I'm still kinda sorta maybe on track (or even not really), I'm less likely to keep eating tons of calories the rest of the day.
And, regardless of where the soup put you today, just start fresh tomorrow. Don't dwell on today. You can exercise tomorrow, you can eat right, and you can hit your goals and move forward. This is just one day.0 -
If I worried about the times that I figure I screwed up .. I would be old and gray by now. I really just forget about the times like this. (fortunately this seldom happens for me), and I move on and realize that the next day I can start all over again.
You did nothing really wrong .. just log it and go on to tomorrow. One day is not going to make a big difference no matter what you feel you did.0 -
One day isn't going to mess up your weight loss....0
