I have been using the app on my phone for one week and have found out it is harder to eat the calories and stay in the limits like I found out today as it is my day off from exercising.

My problem is that I don't eat enough calories (can you imagine??), yet my goal to lose is 18 lbs. I AM learning though. How about if you cut some of your portions down? Such as : Instead of a a medium baked potato, you can eat 1/2 the potato, and instead of topping it with butter or margerine, eat it cut up,plain, skin and all, in cut sizes like Roasted Potatoes.I had that with my Baked Pork Loin Roast today and it was delicious without any topping.
What helps me with that is the Diabetic Food Portion Control Sizes (google those words)...such as a piece of meat being the size of a deck of cards (3 oz) and an amount of margarine or oil for cooking, the size of your tip of fingernail (actually I use spray Pam with 0 Calories); or rice/bagel/WWPasta is the size of 1/2 a Tennis Ball (1/2 cup). Maybe you will only have to half these items on your days off of exercise, but to be honest, even walking around your home, jumpstarting a motorcycle, pulling a few weeds or mowing count as exercise, even though they are not listed here.
I hope this will help you. If you want a buddy on your MFP, please look me up. I am also on Facebook under Wick Stevens (the only Wick) I will accept friendships. Good luck. Wick
