So upsetting...

Yesterday I had my A1c tested. And I got the results today. I went from a 7.0 to a 6.0. I was hoping for a much bigger drop in my numbers. I am in tears. After all my work. It wasn't as low as I had hoped. I am just about ready to just shove this all and eat and live like I use too. So upset. I know I shouldn't be feeling this because others have, I am sure a much harder struggle. But this has not been easy. I know it hasn't been easy for you all either. Just very so disappointed. Thank you listening.

I know it's upsetting to have a higher A1c than you expected...but the drop from 7.0 to 6.0 is fantastic! I think when we track our numbers a few times a day it's easy to feel we'll come in lower than we sometimes do. I've had the same thing happen and it does get to you for a little while. But then I see how much I did improve...or held steady...and that gets me determined to stay on the right path (most of the time!). It's the same with losing weight. If we don't get where we want to be as fast as we want to be there, we're tempted to throw in the towel. It's not easy, but it IS worth the effort! So look at your success rather than what you feel you failed to do. Look at where you are, healthwise, as opposed to where you were. And carry on! I understand. Good luck on an even lower number next time around.

I would be elated! My last A1C was 6.5. My Dr. told me that if I stayed there for the rest of my life, I would live a long, healthy life. So be happy....you are doing awesome! :)

    I understand your pain.

Mine at diagnosis was 6.9%. 3 months late was 6.5%, 3 months after that it was STILL 6.5%. The pounds were dropping but not the A1C

Then it dropped to 6.0%, I was elated that it went from almost 7% to 6% but that took close to one year!!!!!

Then 5.7% and now its 5.6% ..eager to see what 3 months down the road it will be since I'm off ALL my meds right now.

Hang in there, don't give up....

Congratulations! My 6 is a good number. It takes time for your hard work to show up in the numbers. Wait til you see your NEXT one. If you can maintain your 6, you know you've made a change in your lifestyle. That's not an easy thing. Hang in there! (I'm just starting out and have a 7....hope to be where you are in a few months)

Stay strong!! That is a great drop in A1C!!! Be proud of it!! Remember that it is a 3 mos average so if you were still higher 3 mos ago, it would have kept your numbers up a little more. Keep up the great work!

A loss is a loss is a LOSS. Be proud that you put in the hard work and effort for it to DECREASE! Mine didn't budge. You did more than me :)

Like others have said...You are dropping both weight and A1C. T2 is complicated and 6 is practically in normal non diabetic range. Feel good about this. Also by looking at your tracker you are 23 lbs down with a goal of 75 lbs lost. So you are well on your way to both mower weight and lower A1C. i would say continue to eat like a diabetic and continue to drop pounds and this pesky A1C will also drop.
    If I nailed a 6 I would be dancing...Funny the different perspective.
ALSO a full point drop in a series of testing is huge.

That is a great number and a big decrease in your A1C. You have to remember, this is an average over a 3 month time. It also does not just count the FBS, but your blood sugar all day long. So if your fasting is low, but you spike up on your BS totals after eating certain foods, those too are going to be in that average. To know how much your spiking after meals, you need to test 1hr and 2 hrs after your first bit.

Don't be discouraged. You are doing fantastic :)

You're doing great! My primary care told me a year and a half ago that a 7 was just fine - I didn't agree. I was worried about complications - kidneys, nerve damage, retinopathy, heart disease. I was at 7.5 and weighed 234. So I went to an endocrinologist a year ago and started Byetta along side the metformin I was using. I've dropped 81 lbs and my last A1C was 6.1. I would also like to see it lower, but I'll celebrate the fact that it's almost normal for now.

I think you did great - I know you were hoping for something better - my last one was also 6.0 and my doctor was really happy (she wanted me under 7). I would like to get under 6.0 and it's just another goal :) We are in the same boat. My mom is not diabetic but she told me that her last a1c was 5.9 - that made me feel a little better - especially since she would be the one bugging me about my #s and how I'm doing.

Don't sweat it. 6 is fine, as what you're looking for is the downward trend. It's a meaningful test, but you have to remember that is an average, that is relying on an average. When you compare numbers between 3 months you'll have a higher error rate than comparing the numbers across a year.

Remember it didn't get to 7.0 overnight, it will take as long if not longer to get down where you want. You should feel proud of yourself because you have got the numbers going in the right direction. Were here for you, so feel free to vent.
