Hey everyone! This is my 3rd time around trying my best to lose this damn back fat, and cupcake top (I eat cupcakes not muffins) and I really want to do it right this time. I'm starting from scratch again but I've made a few changes... actually going to the gym more often and using weights, eating a little better but I'm a work in progress so it's not 100% perfect. But I WANNA BE A FEATURE STORY! I see so many great stories on the BWLW FB page and I want to be one of those ladies. I am still lacking a little motivation. What do you ladies do to stay motivated? I would love some motivated friends to help me along the way and I'm looking for some new friends that need a little motivation too. That I can do!!!!! Even if I fall off I still applaud those that are still working and striving to their goals. Be blessed everyone!

My motivation comes purely from the fact that I've seen what not being motivated has done to my body. I have tried unsuccessfully to lose weight sustainably for more than 5yrs. I've lost weight during that period, but it has always been a yo-yo cycle and I never embraced healthy eating and exercise until this time around. I don't have children yet, but I am at the age where beginning a family is becoming increasingly important to me. I realized that it could be potentially dangerous for me to try to have children while I was over 300lbs! Every since I made that connection, I've been determined to get rid of the weight. Another surprising motivator for me has been fashion...yes, fashion lol. I love shopping and I love clothes, but I haven't really enjoyed it in the last few years as I grew to hate the sizes that I had to purchase and often found myself crying in the dressing room and then giving up. I cannot WAIT to finally get to buy clothes in a smaller size. (I haven't yet because I want to drop at least one more sz. until I purchase new things.)
Just think about WHY you started and constantly draw on that. Write the number of your highest weight in bold red letters and post it on your refrigerator . I dare you to look at the number everyday and NOT make better food choices. I'm going to send you a friend request. You CAN do this.0 -
I have been a yo yo dieter for so many years. But lately something clicked. My biggest problem was being inpatient and wanting quick results...I would get them and then quickly start eating how i did in the past and gained back all the weight and lost muscle and gained fat.
This is what helped me. I took time to think about what is causing me to over eat. My issue was anxiety, emotional eating, and being board. So my first goal was to find ways to tackle these issue to make it easier for me to lose weight. I researched anxiety and what natural foods, supplements, and activities I could do to help fight it. it worked.
By addressing my anxiety issues I was able to find ways to cope with the anxiety rather than gorging myself with food all the time.
My strategy for sticking to my new healthy life style:
a. Research breathing techniques. These are helpful when you may find the urge to go back to your old eating habits.
b. fish oil tablets, great for mental health
c. walking: this was my favorite stress and anxiety reliever. I would put on my i-pod and goto the park and just walk. I would also practice mindful breathing. To make it more of a workout I got a pedometer to track how many steps I was taking. I love taking walks.
d. Herbal tea: I love loose leaf tea. The Herbal flavored tea is zero calorie and has a slight sweetness that is delicious. Adagio has great flavored fruit teas. Great way to stay feeling full and hydrated.
e. Try to focus on one day at a time. Don't worry about 3-8 months from now. Pat yourself on the back for the little accomplishments you have made.
f. Mantras: I use this when I feel weak or discouraged:'each day that I stick to my new health style, in every little way, I get stronger, healthier, slimmer.' Or something like that. But it helps me remember that I may not see the results in the mirror immediately but little by little I am getting there.
g. You can be a feature...just focus on YOU. Do what you need to to make it. I know some cannot afford to...but in my diet I basically ate WHATEVER I wanted. Even gummy bears...just as long as I was under my calorie limit. I can't deprive myself or I can't stick to eating well. The good thing about calorie counting as opposed to low fat, low carb, etc is that you eat whatever you want and still lose weight, you just can't eat as much. I bought myself an electric scale to weigh my foods, and measuring cups and spoons. When I started doing this I gradually stopped desiring sweets a lot and started making more healthy decisions to use my calories well. Also I invested in a Fitbit, since I love walking so I could keep track of how much I was walking every day. I got a tea maker for me tea from Adagio, got myself some workout gear, etc. Whatever was going to make this transition into a new lifestyle for ME easier.
I started at 222lbs at the end of May this year, I now weight 170-169. I may weight less, it is my time of the month and i tend to bloat, so I think i may weight a bit less. I still have 20lb to lose. When I started at 222lbs I did not know if I would be able to do this but now that I have put my body's needs as a priority especially addressing how i respond to stress and anxiety I don't over eat.
I hope this helped. If you have questions, feel free to IM me.0
