Okay, so a new month and a new opportunity to make a plan and put it out there to the world. The ultimate accountability: say you're going to do it and then DO.IT.

Who's up?

    Hello November!

My plan is roughly the same as October, since I'm mid-program.

I plan to run as often as possible (depending on my husband's work schedule--gotta make a living), with a goal of 2-3 times per week. I'm still looking to increase distance, toward a goal of a 10 mile run by the end of the year. <<Sometimes I feel really far from this, and other times I feel like I could set aside the time and just do it one day. We'll see.

I plan to continue the TUFF program, obviously to finish the first 4 week phase (which I fell behind in October due to illness and some travelling with my son's "work"). I'd like to get caught up enough to also finish the 2nd 4-week phase, so that might take some creative scheduling but as long as I stay healthy, I think it's possible.

That's pretty much it for November and with my normal daily activities, I think that's a pretty good plan.

I welcome November. I am going to lose some weight this month. My plan....

I joined two new groups. The first is a challenge to burn 3500 calories per week. We have to check in every day to see where we are. Watching numbers is what I am all about. I upped my cardio levels tonight and I added 5 minutes to the bike. It felt good.

The second group is Clean Eating. I will never be a totally clean eater. I am trying to cut out as much processed food as possible. I am giving up the chips, candy & soda. I feel better when I eat better. I bought a dress at the consignment shop that is one size too small. I will wear that for Christmas and it will fit. Just try to stop me.

@ FromHereOnOut - Great post I like this idea a lot! My goals this month is to work out and run at least 4 times a week the goal is 5 times a week. I just added up my running total for October I think it was around 56 miles this last month which is not bad all things considered. My running goal this month is to get up near 70 miles for the month and workout goal is to continue to push myself in the gym and lift heavier weight. This month I want to add 10lbs to my current weight lifts for every muscle group. Please hold me accountable to these goals! I will do the same for you...

I joined two groups also. One has teams like biggest loser and I felt like if a team was counting on me to lose I know it would push me to try harder. Second team is run by a coach and more about talking whats stopping you through or something like that, we'll see both start next week.

I always like these monthly "extreme accountability" topics....excellent idea that you started here, Sherry.

As some of you are aware, I do co-admin a weight lifting group here at MFP strictly for women. It is important to have someone or a group of people to be accountable to when it comes to health & fitness. I am a member of a few other groups but coming here is a priority right up there with my own established group. You all keep me on my toes!

With that said, this month will be a continuation of using a weight lifting program called TUFFer. It has three phases and I am currently in Phase 2. I lift every other day for four weeks. On the non-lifting days I work in some type of cardio (walking, kick boxing). I make sure to work in at least ONE rest day while under TUFFer Phase 2.

Before this month ends, I will have moved into TUFFer Phase 3 which involves lifting 6 days per week (hitting different parts of the body on different days).

Oh..I just ordered a pull-up bar so I will be working towards a goal of doing at least ONE pull...lol.

Wishing each of you great success with your plans and be strong with accountability.

    My goals for November:
    1) Get over this cold that is keeping me from working out.
    2) Run 3x a week
    3) Work out with my trainer 3x a week (except Thanksgiving week when he'll be traveling)
    4) Do a better job at getting walks in during the workweek (I kind of slacked off in October)
    5) Lose some weight this month - I'm aiming for 5 pounds. October turned out to pretty much be a maintenance month for me on the scale.
    6) Get good cardio 3 days a week that I don't run. Tuesdays I alternate Pilates & Zumba, so this goal includes getting some cardio in on my Pilates days. I'm going to incorporate more time on the spin bike, and build up how long I can stay on Jacob's Ladder.
    7) And on the 7th day, I will rest.

Now's a good a time as any to update on November.

Well, plans changed. I'm not doing Tuff any longer, but am getting familiar and set-up for Stronglifts 5x5. I still intend to run 2-3x/wk and am still targeting a run that I've mapped from my house towards the beach that is 10mi (by Dec).

I've decided that on what will become SL5x5 days (MWF), I will do bodyweight exercises at home, until I can actually begin the program. And I will be working on upper body strength, in order to be ready to start with an Olympic bar (45#) in SL.

Like the poster above says, first we build habits. I've already built a habit of thought that I've never had before in my life: thinking of fitness, of scheduling fitness, of working it into my day and of making it a priority. My crazy life may not permit normal schedules and programs, but at least I can form that habit of thought that makes me work my fitness into the chaos.

Great idea to remind ourselves mid-month what are goals are.

    1) My cold is gone!
    2) My running is closer to being back on track.
    3) Trainer sessions are going greta
    4) So-so on getting walks in. I'm up to at least 2-3 a week. Need to keep working on that. Forgot it was a goal. :)
    5) I'm being really conscious about what I eat and the scale is moving again.
    6) Cardio is going well. Making progress with Jacob's Ladder.

Well, thought I should update on this thread before I chicken out! (No joke...I'm starting to feel like a big ole chicken and just go hit the circuit machines at the gym instead of going into the lion's den with all the big boys.) Sooooo, I signed up for the gym. Beforehand, I spoke to two of the trainers there about the Stronglifts program. They weren't familiar with it, but I got the point across that I will be lifting in the free weights area, with (gulp) the Olympic bar. :indifferent: So, no backing out now, right? Anyway, thinking I will spend a week or so visiting the gym and using the regular barbells just to test my strength on each exercise and to get acquainted with the cultural norms at the gym and check-out the "regulars", etc. I'd like to try one of my SL exercises using the OlyBar each visit, until I've gone thru all 5 xcises, before beginning in earnest. OHP might lag behind, but we'll see.

Still wanting to run 2-3x/wk. Ideally, I will do lifting MWF and I will run TTh and maybe F after lifting, or on Sat. Plus, now with the gym, weather is no excuse, b/c i can always use the dreadmill at the gym. Soooo....extreme accountability in place, all bases covered. Now, just to put on my big girl panties and get it done!

Definitely a good time for an update or assessment.

I'm pleased with November. I met up against alot of the usual timing/family obstacles, but I'm still here pressing forward. I'm not very good for keeping track of numbers, but knowing that in years past I quit long before I reached this point, I definitely see progress. I definitely progressed in my running, more than ever, but there's more to that story...

I am a little worried about what might be some new obstacles that I've never dealt with. I'm afraid that the strange internal/anatomical feeling I had running the other day might actually "be something". This is new territory for me. I've been remarkably healthy all of my life and have never had much more than frequent colds to hold me back. But apparently the joys of pregnancy just stay with women lonnnng after the child is born. :grumble: Anyway, on the chance that I might have a slight pelvic organ prolapse, I've done some searching and was crushed to find that weightlifting and distance running are the two big no-no's. Guuuuuh-reat. Just great. My head is spinning. I'm so afraid this is actually happening and I can't imagine stopping now. I just can't!

So, I'll be watching that situation carefully in December. Not sure if I can really set any goals for December given the circumstances. But I'm not ditching my 10mile goal yet nor my Stronglifts goal. I'll just have to wait and see. The good news is that even if this turns out to be an issue, I think I can still run short distances and the gym has awesome circuit machines plus bicycles, etc. (<<trying to stay positive, but honestly feeling completely gutted and crushed. HOPING so much that it's a false alarm. )

Sherry, have you seen a doctor yet about this? When will you know for sure if it's "something" or not? I really hope it's not!!!

Laura, I just figured out that it *might* be something yesterday, so I'll have to see a dr. as soon as I can get an appt. I also have my son's birthday coming this week, so super busy. Mainly, I just don't want to run too far til I can find out, since that's the only time I've ever had that experience. It's going to be raining anyway. But if I do run, I'll know to stop immediately if I get that feeling again. I'm so crushed. The thought of not being able to go as hard as I have the will to go is a totally new concept for me. What if I hear, "You can run, but not far" or "You can lift, but not heavy". It's unacceptable to me.
