i'm having my 15 year old brother run my workouts until i get the hang of it, but failed to take into account that he's a 15 year old boy that's in football/winter sports and I'm a 20 year old with arthritis in my knees and a resting heart rate of 110. He's really running me ragged and especially after my core days i feel like I can't even move.

Is there any way at all to ease that "can't stand, can't breathe" feeling in my gut?

I read your profile. Is there a doctor you could consult about an exercise program that takes your health into account? The first thing that came to mind as I read was a stress test and a program that is geared to your needs. A program that's too strenuous can result in injury or worse.

"Can't stand, can't breathe" is a signal that you're overdoing it. The way to ease it is to ease up. The best way to gain strength and endurance is to build it from a lower level and not push too far too fast.
