How I am feeling today

I didn't overeat today, or so it seems. I do eat a lot of pasta and less fruits and vegetables. I need to lose weight and change my eating habits. I gained nearly all of my weight back. I need to start over and not allow myself to become frustrated. I have plenty of reasons, or rather, motivations to lose weight. I don't know if I should approach this slowly or if I just "dive in". I am in need of some advice. My health is of great concern to me but I don't want to worry so much about it to the point where I become frustrated.

What do you mean dive in? Did you dive in last time and go too aggressive? If you did then thats why you gained the weight back and dont you think that this time around you should do it more slowly?

Probably depends on your personality. I know if I dive right in, I last about eight hours and then get disgusted. But if I focus on just one thing to change at a time, it's easier. Like "I will substitute a salad for half my pasta." Then once I get that down, add a second thing to change.

Trouble is, I sometimes backslide on the first thing I changed ... I guess I have to wait longer for Thing #1 to be a habit before overtaxing my feeble self-control with Thing #2. :-P

As far as "diving in" goes, maybe "dive in" to one thing and go slowly on the rest. For example, I jumped on drinking more water every day. Previously, I would drink maybe 1/2 a glass. Chronic dehydration made me crave salt, which made me crave chips. You get the idea. Once I got that down, I jumped on eating more veggies. "Dive in" one step at a time, if that makes any sense. I wouldn't recommend totally diving in head over heels when it comes to everything, or you might find yourself discouraged and gaining the weight back.
