Stretch Marks

Blah! Totally just a rant, but this pregnancy is basically back to back with my first (I have a ten month old son and I'm due 5/31). With my son, I didn't get a single stretch mark on my stomach and was religious about staying hydrated, cocoa butter, etc. The other day I noticed a bright red one on my lower stomach that just appeared out of nowhere. It's no big deal, but I'm not even as big as I was at this point before. Just thought it was weird! I haven't been drinking as much water this time so maybe that had something to do with it, I have to be better about that anyways.

I have a hard time getting enough water intake too... This is my first child but because of bad lifestyle choices, I already have stretch marks. I'm just glad they're not getting worse!0

Hi there,
I am due may 14th and already have stretch marks all over my lower tummy, I always eat healthy and hydrate and have been using oil and creams on my belly since week 12 but no luck would be interested if anyone has any 'wonder fixes' for this too! If not I guess at least we can say we have earned our stripes! haha0 -
Ive been using bio oil and vitamin e oil. They say that stretch marks may be genetic.I didnt get any from pregnancy and the ones I had before on my arms and lower back are fading .My stretch marks were always hard to see because I am so dark. You can also try pure shea butter0

Good ideas! I have been using Palmer's massage cream for stretch marks that's a thicker version of the cocoa butter lotion. I use it twice a day but maybe I should get shea butter too because my skin is always dry anyways. I still just have the one mark and it seems to be fading. I don't care if I get them from carrying baby and I haven't gained any weight yet (keep in mind I'm already overweight) but I am carrying her differently than I carried my son.0

Not knocking the product because I have heard it does work for a lot of people, but I have pretty sensitive skin and Bio Oil gave me the worst rash and itch I'd ever had in my life.
So far my existing stretch marks aren't budging yet, but I've been sticking to shea butter / vitamin e. I have nothing to lose! lol. I haven't gained any weight yet either, @tcrofford, and I'm carrying pretty high. I wonder how drastically things will change for my skin when the baby drops...0 -
I think I've found it! Have been using this cream for a few days now and my marks started fading after a few days! It also smells delicious!

I ordered Out of Africa pure shea butter from Vitacost that I should get today, and I am also using Honest Belly Balm now from Honest Company (I already get their baby diaper and essentials bundles). I am going to check out that link, Gracey!0

Research says there is no proof that lotions, hydration, ointments, etc have any impact at all.
I am inclined to believe they are probably right, and it is all genetics.
With my first baby, I used all the name brand best lotions every single day, I drank tons of water and I used Vitamin E directly on the skin and took the capsules. Yet, I got gnarly stretch marks.
We will have to see what happens with this baby. Hydration has been a problem for me, I have only put lotion on twice and haven't used anything else. So far nothing, but that doesn't mean anything.0 -

^^ THIS!
You can use all the products, lotions and potions that you want... you either get stretch marks or you don't. I wouldn't do so concerned about it. Most stretch marks fade away with time or at least to a reasonable fade that you can live with for the most part. I am sure you all still look amazing!!

I don't think anyone really knows why we get them... all I can say is with three kids my mom didn't get any, I didn't have any with my first baby and I have like, two this time. Articles do say that if you gain weight rapidly while pregnant (just like when not pregnant) then there's a good chance of them popping up. Either way, staying hydrated and moisturized is a good thing to do and I for one think it's been helping my skin a lot.0
