I lost 62 then put 24 back on. Lower carbs ( not super low, just lower) and exercise are the key. I put weight back on very fast if I slack on either of these.

I guess I should add that I was almost 200 lbs after having my 3rd son.

I have been on hormone therapy since august of last yr. At that time I still looked pregnant!

I cut carbs to 25% and as little sugar as possible. No bread or grains. I do eat beans once in a while and rice very little.

I do eat lots of meats, fish and veggies. I have also found gluten free to be great for treats such as cakes etc. It does not tear my guts up!

I have lost over 50 lbs and inch wise.... 9 on the chest (upper muffin lol), 13 on my waist, 7 on my hips and 4 on my thighs!

I am in tighten and build muscle phase. I have stuck around 120lbs and for now am happy there! Happier than I have been in years!

please feel free to message me if you have any other questions!

I've lost 35 lbs, had a baby, and now 6 months post partum I'm 9 lbs less (44 total from heaviest) than I was when I found out I was pregnant. I only have had success by going 100% sugar/ gluten free. Lots of fruits, veggies and meat. I am now 5'6, 144 lbs. I work out 6 days a week to lose, and have to stay diligent to maintain.

PCOS and treated with metformin. I started this journey June 2013, and am down almost 65 lbs! Its doable. I had a really hard time losing weight previously. I have found MFP to be my saving grace. I had tried ww, a local weight loss clinic and never lost more than 25#. Yet here I am.

I have PCOS. I started this journey a little over 2 years ago and I'm down 118 pounds. I'm about 20 from my initial goal. I've tweaked my diet a little at a time and have found that the types of food I eat matter as much (if not more than) as how many calories I eat. I also don't lose unless I exercise. I try to eat high fiber grains when I eat them. I've found that the more carbs I eat with breakfast, the hungrier I get the rest of the day, so I eat bacon and eggs most mornings... often with some fruit, but not always. I've started cooking from scratch more and more, and I try to make everything from the most nutrient dense ingredients I can, and avoid processed foods.

I also cheat almost every single day, so these are not hard, fast rules.

The crazy and surprising thing I've found is that I lose weight EXACTLY on the time table that MFP says I will. HOWEVER, I gain weight FASTER than it says I will. When I overeat, it is often not with the carefully chosen foods I eat when I'm losing, and I think the processed sugars and grains, along with chemicals and additives, seem to cause me to gain faster. All calories do not appear to be created equal.

Along those same lines, if I don't exercise regularly, I also lose slower than MPF says I ought to.

I'm sure that exercise and processed sugars change my hormones in detrimental ways. I believe that this is likely unique to women with PCOS.

Oh, and I just had a piece of pumpkin pie tonight for dinner, too. :) It was organic, homemade with crust made from non-hydrogenated, non-soy shortening. And after I ate it, I went to the gym and worked out so I don't have to pay for it so much!

I've lost 35 pounds so far....

I've had a hunch I had pcos for a long time but no one would listen to me...
Finally "officially" diagnosed this past summer after an ER visit....

My doctor won't give me Metformin.. He wants me to see a specialist and I can't afford they because thanks to they ER visit I have been denied insurance due to pcos...

So I'm doing it all on my own through diet and exercise.... I had 2 periods last year for pregnant the first time and miscarried.
Started dieting in September and regulated my periods and got pregnant sometime Around thanksgiving... Had another miscarriage early January.... My body isn't producing enough HCG so every time I show negative on every kind of pregnancy test.... And that seems to be the reason I haven't been able to carry to term....

Great tips, suggestions and I see it has worked for you. I simply cant gain anymore weight, it has been out of hand. I gain so easily. I can not quit for my health's sake. It's not even about looks anymore. I just want to feel better. I will be more mindful about the types of calories I eat. I thought I was already, but based on this week, I must do better. As far as excersise, I have been unable to fit in this week (busy with huge project at work, barely sleeping too) I have to make at least 30 min a day for excersice. Thank you again for sharing, it helps knowing others have struggled and yet conquered/conquering!

I agree a million percent... If ONE more person tells me I perfect the way I am (nice compliment but it's counterproductive) and shouldn't obsess over losing weight or to love my body ot to gain more confidence I will scream!

This year I had 2 miscarriages. I was finally diagnosed with PCOS even though id known for years I had it. I was also diagnosed with fatty liver disease and an enlarged heart as well as having diverticulitis..... I'm Not doing it for vanity reasons OR because I don't love myself... I am doing it BECAUSE I love myself and I don't want to die!! So people that shove things in my face they I simply can not eat are simply people that I can't be around a lot.....they are enablers and not good for my health.

I have pcos and I've lost 100lbs. It took me between a year and a half-two years to do it, and there have been times where the PCOS made my hormones so out of whack that it took ALL of the effort I had just to maintain my weight and not gain, but trust me, it's possible and worth it.

Ok, I know I just posted on this, but I wanted to reply to these posts. I have PCOS, fatty liver disease, enlarged heart, have had 1 miscarriage, used to have high blood pressure (which is what lead to the enlarged heart), and was prediabetic. YOU ARE RIGHT, getting people out of your life who are enablers and who sabotage things because they want you to feel just as bad as them (sorry, but its true) is SO IMPORTANT. I know these people may be your friends, but if they are doing this, they are not a genuine friend. If they can't look at your health and realize that yes, eating ONE cupcake can sincerely damage the streak you may be on, leading to days or weaks or months of binge eating, and trigger that downward spiral back into bad habits, therefor VERY negatively effect your health, don't allow them in your life. In short (& rather blunt terms) that person could care less if you died. Just think of it that way.

    Ok, rant over. lol

I would like to know if any one here has conceived naturally with PCOS after weight loss?

    Thanks!

Gluten Free diet... I done this two years ago and it worked wonders very quickly.

It is so hard to stick to though, the moment I stopped was the moment all the weight crept back on and my symptoms reappeared.

    Give it a go!! :)

Reply to lmruthe: Yes, I lost approximately 50 lbs and got pregnant naturally. This was over 16 years ago and I was very young at the time. I have gained and lost weight since then, at times not being on BC, but never got pregnant again.

I have PCOS and I am currently down 50 lbs. I was on clomid (and first provera) to conceive my son but currently I am not on any medication because I am hoping, trying, praying, wishing to conceive again and my husband doesn't wish to use fertility treatments but I don't seem to be ovulating.

I have bad PCOS. I've lost 135 lbs, and am maintaining a weight of 124-126 lbs (I'm 5'5-5'6ish). It was harder at first but I found that it got a lot easier when I cut out most processed foods and started walking a lot. It gets better! And it's SO worth it - my symptoms improved immensely once I started exercising and eating well.
