Hmmm Lustig and Taubes among others in the trailer? I have a feeling they're not called on their nonsense and fearmongering and are instead "experts" in the movie. Wonder if this will be any better than the farce that was FatHead, most likely not

Hm. I'll have to watch this, it seems interesting. Food, Inc was a pretty good documentary, too.

I'll admit to watching these types of documentaries from time to time. Sometimes they have nuggets of good information, other times they are simply garbage. I noticed Michael Pollan in there and I admire his philosophy on food. I do loathe the zealotry that creeps into these things however. Zealots do more harm than good.

Pollan is an anti-GMO zealot though.

True, but no one is perfect. I'm somewhat neutral on GMO foods myself.

you don't really have to read past the first sentence of the film poster to know what you're going to get with this... propaganda.

"In riveting interviews with the country's leading experts, Fed Up lays bare a decades-long misinformation campaign orchestrated by Big Food and aided and abetted by the U.S. Government."

I find it hard to believe that there is some conspiracy to make the nation overweight and/or cause health issues. Critical thinking skills are lacking and I think that is a bigger problem.

If it is made with a cauliflower crust, isn't it just veggie casserole with sausage and bacon on top?! (Because if you're going to sacrifice the crust, there had better be sausage and bacon involved!!)

Well, you know, curing cancer is as simple as eating a lot of vitamin C and the government doesn't want us to know!

I won't pay to see this in theaters, but I will watch it on Netflix when it makes it there. Even though it is clearly propaganda and fear mongering (because elitists think that fear is the only way to educate what they deem to be "ignorant masses"), I do watch these types of films.

Nobody ever talks about increasing protein consumption, reducing carb consumption, reducing overconsumption in general, balancing macros, eating enough fiber, and moderating treats. That would be too logical, and there's no fear involved, so the ideas don't sell.

Also I wouldn't be shocked if this passes the blame on why people got fat, books and "gurus" love to tell fatties that it wasn't their fault they got fat, perhaps evil corporations putting sugar in everything is to blame

Well crap. I thought sugar was going to kill us all. I wonder if the government will ever release the infamous list of toxins…

The trailer clearly does this with the comment (paraphrasing) "It's easier to tell people it's their fault...." followed by a clip (again paraphrasing) "it's the food industries' fault because they got you addicted." Then showing a coke can with a warning "addictive" label.

But then, we masses aren't emotionally equipped to handle the blame for our own actions. We clearly can't handle the sort of inconvenient truth that we need to simply eat less and move more. But gurus can't sell that. They need fear and sensationalism to sell their magic messages.

"documentaries" like this aren't aimed at the masses nor is their primary goal to make a profit at the box office... they are aimed at activists who will then go and rabble-rouse to affect public policy. often for the worse and often based on junk science. these changes almost always come with unintended consequences (e.g., the banning of DDT based on dubious science has perhaps led to millions of deaths from malaria in the developing world).

Oranges, tomatoes and berries are the best sources of vitamin C, yet they all have high sugar content.

It's like nature wants us dead.
