Meditation
Monday of the First Week of Easter follows the Exodus of the children of Israel, after the Egyptians allowed them to go. The Passover of the angel of death hurt the Egyptians and they gladly said goodbye, but soon, the hard work of the Jews was missed. So tPharaoh and his warriors chased after them.
The trek across the dessert had exhausted the Israelites. They were hungry and frustrated. They faced a body of water and the armies of Pharaoh coming after them. They expressed their fears by complaining that they were better off serving in Egypt, where there was food and safety, than dying in the wilderness.
Moses proclaimed that the Lord would protect them, would fight for them. God instructed Moses to hold his rod over the sea and the water parted, so the Israelites could walk on dry land. The Egyptians followed but the Lord caused their chariot wheels to fall off and they bogged down. The angel of the Lord gave them trouble to prevent their following the Israelites, but they persisted in going back on their word, giving the Jews their freedom. Their failure to honor their promise resulted in the high level loss of life among the Egyptians chasing the Jews.
True to his word, God protected the Hebrews and fought their battle for them. Miriam led the women in a dance rejoicing for the salvation of the Hebrews and victory against the Egyptians.
The Scriptures state that a great wind blew the waters back. Archaeologists have studied possible locations for such an occurrence to happen. Some have plotted the course that led them south on the Sinai Peninsula and to the narrow spot between Sinai and Saudi Arabia.
The Egyptians had enslaved them and promised their freedom. They reneged on that and the Lord fought the battle for the Israelites. A new life began for them.
Jesus died on the cross and fought the battle of sin for us. A new life began for us all. The Epistle to the Colossians reveals the new life that Jesus paid for—a life where we put off the wrongs and take on righteous behaviors. And this new life also equalizes all believers. There is no Jew or Greek, no slave or free that makes one better than the other. We all have God’s protection for us as we are all in the Family of God.
Thanks be to God.

Prayer: Almighty God, Open my eyes that I might see. Open my mind that I might understand. Open my heart that I might make your words a part of me. May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in your sight. Amen

Exodus 14:10-31
King James Version (KJV)
10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD.
11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?
12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.
13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
15 And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:
16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
19 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:
20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.
21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
23 And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
24 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,
25 And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians.
26 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.
27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.
29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.
31 And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.
Exodus 15:20-21
King James Version (KJV)
20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.
21 And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.

Prayer of Encouragement
Almighty God, We thank you for your faithfulness. You protected your people from the Egyptians and fought their battles for them. In Christ, we have become heirs to the family of God with equality for all. Help us to show ourselves worthy that your name will be praised. In Jesus name, Amen
Conclusion
Monday, First Week of Easter celebrates the victory that belongs to God on our behalf. Jesus paid the price and we are redeemed. Just as the Jews were saved from the Egyptians, we have been saved by God’s power and grace. We start fresh, even as they started a new life heading to the Promised Land. The battle that Christ fought over sin was for all of us—Jew or non-Jew, slave or free. It was the great equalizer. We become the family of God and have equal access to the throne of grace.
That new life in Jesus is distinctive. We put away sinful behaviors and we will have a clearer understanding of God. We have equal access to God’s power for it is the same Christ in us all. Jesus fought the battle for us, just as God fought the battles for the Israelites giving them a fresh start, we have a new beginning in Christ where we put away the old way of doing things and live according to our new life in Christ.
Go out and be ready for God to do mighty things in your life—for the glory of God.*

The Israelites were ready to go back to Egypt and stay as slaves, however, when God parted the sea, and told them that they would not see the Egyptians again, what a powerful event. Yes, God can do anything. When we watch things unfold today we can see Gods works. As I see all the frass, bulbs, trees all spring around me I give glory to God each season. Many people who don't know the Lord give praise to mother earth or some made up entity but I know it all comes from God. I believe the old saying that we can't see the forest for the trees, guess as the Israelites were on the move they were fearful and had little faith. I can be like that also when I am going through something so it is understandable. It us than that I know it is time for me to get on my knees and pray.0
