I will say that while Star Wars are not just movies for guys, there is a real dearth of strong female roles in them. Scratch that, there are barely ANY female roles, period. You got Leia...end of list. If you throw in the prequels there's Padme, again end of list.

you're not wrong. and i am so sorry that JJ Abrams isn't addressing that. he had a real opportunity to have some kick@ss female roles and he dropped the ball. Don't get me wrong, i LOVE that we're getting Ridley... but come on, this is 2014. we should have more female leads in scifi.

I love Star Wars and Star Trek. Though I dislike the remade Star Treks, for the simple fact of Lens flares. WAY too many lens flares, it's just poor filmmaking.

I think at this point it's just a hipster thing to not like Star Wars. They drink their Craft Fair Beer and hate on Star Wars.

Fun fact: the original trilogy gets partial credit for my marriage. Our first kiss was during the Endor speeder chase. Over nachos. My husband knows how to treat a lady (and I'm not being sarcastic).

If you're going to watch it, skip the three newest and watch the originals. Then do yourself a favour and ALSO watch some Trek, because it's awesome. TNG all the way!

    You're not missing much.

Totally agree... and I'm actually a sci-fi fan.
Star Wars is more fantasy than sci-fi. But the beauty of Star Wars is not its genre. It's the good vs. evil, internal struggle, coming-of-age, Shakespearean storyline that makes it a wonderful work of art.

I love those movies and I do think if you haven't seen them, you are missing out.

(And while you can't tell by my picture, I am not a dude.)

You mean Putin isn't a chick?

Sorry, I am completely in agreement. I have my preferences and Star Wars isn't the top of the list, but to say it's just for guys is just wrong.
