Slimming Down

Hello! I'm new to the site, but I have been using the app for a little bit now. So far, the app had helped me a lot and I've seen dieting as an important factor in my life to becoming healthier. But I have a few questions that I've been concerned about, and I'm just wondering if anyone could help me. I haven't really dieted before because I've been unusually slim my whole life and gained some weight recently (I let myself go! Lol.). I'm 5'2 and 3/4, with my weight being around... 97-103 lbs. I'm only in my teens :).

So, I'm just wondering -- if I lose weight, will my face be more slim? With the information I gave, do you guys think there will be some change? For some reason, the rest of my body isn't too flabby, but my face seems to be more round. It is easily noticeable that I have a double chin and I'm just afraid it will get worse if I don't watch my weight. Not only that, but I've noticed that I also have some cellulite on my upper thighs? I didn't have them last year (2013), but ever since my upper thighs (They don't touch, only upper part does, fairly skinny.) look bigger. I also have a slightly protruding stomach, and it gets bigger if I eat a small meal, which annoys me greatly. I drink only water and the occasional green tea (Arizona! Sweetened.), and my diet consists of mostly bread, rice, red meat and veggies. I only eat in small amounts, but over the weekends I eat more because I have more time on my hands.

I want to lose about 10 lbs, because I feel that will be the right amount to look more different, especially in my face. Oh! By the way, I think I would be considered what you call a "fat skinny"? Does anyone have some good advice, because to be honest, I'm kind of lost. I'm not sure what to buy, like groceries, or exercising equipment. I don't have a lot of friends that are into this stuff, so this means a lot for anyone one of you guys to help me! I've looked into this, really, but every website says something different and they're always trying to promote something, so I don't know if everything is legit. I currently have braces, so a lot of foods, like celery, nuts, etc., I cannot eat. It's hard to eat apples or pears and fruits similar to those. Any cheap foods that are great to buy would also be helpful. Thank you!

Um, exactly how old are you? You want to lose 10lbs which would put you down into the 87-93lb range? That is way to small for you and just about anyone.

If you think you are "fat skinny" then I would try to body recomp which means lifting weights. That is it.

    Hey hii
Firstly i want to say that you no need to lose weight but if still you want to lose weight then try green tea with your diet plan because green tea has not synthetic and it will not harm your body so i think it's a better option for you:)

As others have said; it doesn't sound as though you need to lose weight. If you want to change the way your body appears it's not diet but exercise...I know as a teenager I was the 'right' weight for my height (I am just about 5ft) but lack of exercise meant that I wasn't as toned as perhaps I could have been. Now obviously the issue I have is totally different, but I am 40 and have 20 years of poor diet and lack of exercise to contend with.

If you look in the mirror and see a girl who doesn't look as you want then as cliched as it sounds, perhaps the issue is with how you see yourself rather than with how you really are.

When you are in your teens you are still growing and changing, hormones will affect the way you develop and the last thing you want to do is stunt that growth...

    Good luck and be healthy...

I'm 17. I admit that when I look in the mirror all I can see is someone with a flabby body. I guess this sort of stemmed from the fact that my cousins all work out and have nice bodies but are reluctant to help me because they are too busy with their own thing. I don't blame them, I know this is something that you should really be focused on once you start. All they talk about is dieting and organic foods with no GMO, calories, and losing three lbs a month and things like that.

I don't know... I have other skinnier friends and they all tell me I'm gaining weight and I look really out of shape. It's hard for me to even walk up the stairs. I feel so insecure whenever they tell me that. In the girls locker room they stare at me and my legs, my stomach, and lately when I look at myself I think I can see what they see. My goal is to just change and focus on my body inside and out over the summer.

I'm not fit, but I'm willing to try :). I'll lift weights and hit the gym. I'll try out the treadmill and a few dumb bells and see where that takes me. Thank you to those that replied! Really, it means a lot :flowerforyou: .
