Is it ridiculous for me to want to lose 5-10 pounds?

I dont know how much I weigh (I hate weighing myself) but people always say I'm decently thin... maybe have a peek at my profile pic and you be the judge.
When I'm alone I look in the mirror and see that I might want to lose a bit of weight, but when I tell people I'd like to lose 5 or ten pounds they say I'm being ridiculous and I could gain that much if i wanted to. I eat VERY healthy, and I exercise ALOT every day..
Do you think I am being ridiculous and just have a warped body image? Or is my goal realistic?

not really....well I was not saying that you need to lose that 5 pounds but I see where you come from..I am in the same boat and I am not thin by any mean...This comes from ourselves, no matter what other people tell us how great we look...
Anyway, maybe start lifting weight and body recomp journey might eventually help you see yourself differently? I know I have come a long way to where I am today. I am still unhappy abut myself but I see changes, positive changes and so do other people.
Just to add, I haven't been able to lose any pound. how sad...0 -
As long as you're not underweight, and feel good, then there's no reason not to try to be healthier, but you might consider that losing pounds may not be the best way to do that: adding muscle is often better, especially if your'e already at a healthy weight. Technically, you could even gain weight by adding muscle, but the weight will be more compact, your clothes will fit better, and you'll be healthier overall.0

It's hard to say but given your age and pics and your post, I'd say you should probably not try to lose weight, especially not 10 lbs.
Also, how much is "A LOT" of exercise? Why do you do so much? It can be a form of bulimia for some, and overtraining is just as bad as under, so be careful. If you love it or do it for work or something, it's probably nothing to worry about. But if you do it because of fear of being unshapely or something like that, it could be a red flag.
Good luck! You look terrific. Go easy on yourself and listen to your friends and family.0 -
Depends on if you are underweight or not. If you're already 5 lbs underweight and want to lose another 5-10 more, then that might be ridiculous. But if you're within your normal range for your height and want to lose 5 to 10 lbs then there is nothing wrong with that as long as you go about it healthfully. Others have suggested strength training... maybe that will work for you, since you are already at a good size?0

I don't think it's wrong. As long as your not doing anything drastic, and within a healthy weight range, I don't see what the problem is. If you're willing to put in the effort, more power to you.0

i think you just are wanting people to tell you that you look good. with that said, yeah you could stand to lose 5 to 100

I don't think you are looking for weight loss, I think you are looking for body recomposition.
That being said, you can tell very little from photos, so it's hard to say.0 -
Honestly I never even really thought about just building muscle (as stupid as that sounds) I probably don't need to lose fat, maybe just have a bit more lean muscle
I'll do up some strength training maybe! I don't like going by weight anyways... too much stress in numbers.
Thank guys0 -

It does sound like you do have some issues with body image (based on your profile) but it does sound like you are managing it and not going overboard. To me, it looks like you have no weight to lose. It might help still to go speak to a counselor or therapist about body image and diet. (may not be necessary but couldn't hurt either).
Since you are unhappy with the way your body looks and you may want to look into body recomposition. This includes strength training. I will add a link of a lady who ended up weighing more after strength training, but looks a lot leaner. If people say you are ridiculous for wanting to lose those 5 lbs, Don't tell them you want to lose the weight, tell them that you are trying to be healthier or get fitter. Different goals, but same result.
