Gaining weight and improving fitness

I had lost 72lb after the birth of my daughter. It took me just over a year of eating healthily and restricting calories but I did it.
This year I felt it was time to up my exercise. I am fairly active...lots of walking and running after the children but bar the odd swim, I wasn't do any formal exercise.

Well, I have signed up to the corporate global fitness challenge. I have been really motivated about exercise since starting on 28/05. I have averaged a step count of 12400. I have also started that slim in 6. Added some 5k runs and I am still swimming twice a week 1500-2000m,

All great but the scales are now tipping the other way....I have gained 3lb in the last 3 weeks. My net calorie intake has not altered (1200 - 1500 / day). I know its probably muscle weight and I am drinking loads more water but I still feel quite unhappy about it.

Any advice to keep me motivated. Will I continue to gain or will it come off eventually.

How much are you looking to lose?

Do you look better in the mirror?

First off, congrats on the big weightloss! Secondly - take photos of yourself during your journey. Sometimes it is muscle, sometimes it could be that your body is visually changing just not on the scale. The scale has a lot to answer for! Just because there isnt a loss there (like me today), doesnt mean that you arent changing shape. As long as you're not changing what you eat and you're sticking to your calories, you will be ok. Don't rely too heavily (pardon the pun) on the scales x

Ideally I would like to lose another 7lb. That keeps me squarely in the healthy weight range - I just in at present. My BMI is 24.4

I guess I do look better in the mirror

It's probably water weight and/or eating more calories than you think. A woman will not gain appreciable muscle mass while on a deficit. If it is water weight from adaptations to additional exercise, it will level off then disappear over the course of a couple weeks. If it's inaccurate logging, the weight will continue to creep upwards.

Bin the scales, focus on fitness. Perhaps take up a sport that you couldn't contemplate before. It gets progressively harder as you get closer to the goal weight especially if you've lost a lot. And eat to train rather than avoiding food to lose weight. :)
