Monday, Trinity Week, each lesson addressed a different aspect of the Trinity. The Old Testament lesson in Job continued God the Father’s questioning—almost blistering—of Job’s ability to control events around him. Can you guide a bull? Do you find food for the wild animals? Do you monitor their calving season? Can you feed raven babies? I suspect Job felt like sinking a little more into the ground with each question. I know I would have. Of course, the answer would have been, “No. No. No. No. …” As much as he might have liked to think he determined his life, there was so very much that happened beyond his control.
God was, and is, and ever shall be sovereign over all the universe. We may work like it depends on us, but we pray, because it actually depends on God.
The New Testament epistle to the church in Corinth addressed the issue of Spiritual gifts, so St. Paul was writing about the action of the Holy Spirit. Corinth had been notoriously involved in pagan ways, being the trading and cosmopolitan transportation center of the Mediterranean. To bring the church into proper teaching, the Holy Spirit came upon many of their believers—newbies from the heathen practices, without any background in Jewish traditions or theology. The Holy Spirit spoke truth through the new converts. But they began to take credit for the Holy Spirit as if they were the ones who made things happen. Some among them were ‘faking’ it by claiming the Spirit told them Jesus was cursed. Paul clarified for them that no one speaking with the Holy Spirit would speak against God. A true believer would not call anything from God—false. Someone with the true Holy Spirit would be able to acknowledge Jesus as Lord.
The Psalmist spoke of Jesus without actually mentioning the name of Jesus. We know from the Gospel of John that Jesus was the Word of God, in essence the Voice of God, so when we read David’s song of praise about how the Voice of God thundered over the waters, made the Cedars of Lebanon splinter, shook the desert wilderness with quakes and yet was our source of strength and the giver of our peace, we understand that the Voice he referred to was Jesus.
Hence, again, this week the lessons taught about the three person aspect of God—God the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. We pray to God recognizing that our source comes from all three—the Sovereign Head, the Voice that commands and the Spirit that indwells us.
With God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, all things are possible.
Thanks be to God.¬¬

Prayer: Almighty God, Open my eyes that I might see. Open my mind that I might understand. Open my heart that I might make your words a part of me. May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in your sight. Amen

Psalm 29
King James Version (KJV)
29 Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength.
2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
3 The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters.
4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
5 The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars; yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.
7 The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire.
8 The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.
9 The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.
10 The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever.
11 The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.

Prayer of Encouragement
Dear God, we give praise to God for the sovereign guidance of the universe; and praise to the Son-the Word or Voice that calls things into being and the indwelling Holy Spirit that equips us to every good work. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit—the Triune God, Amen
Conclusion
Monday, Trinity Week reiterated the three persons of God in pragmatic ways. In the book of Job, the power and sovereignty of God became clearly apparent. The Voice of the Lord or the Word of God—the Son—Jesus, brought events to pass. With St. Paul writing to the Corinthians, he compared their ignorance as pagans that they were saved from and how the true knowledge of Jesus as Lord, only came through the Holy Spirit.
No one, who truly believed God, would claim Jesus was cursed. True believers could acknowledge Jesus as Lord.
I mentioned it before—the time as a Navy chaplain, when I invited a young sailor to church, though he claimed he had recently become involved with witchcraft and out of body experiences. But he came for communion and when he tried to eat the wafer—representing the body of Christ, he choked for more than 10 minutes as the service wrapped up. He could not eat the wafer, but had to spit it out. Evil cannot acknowledge Jesus is Lord, and that was why Paul said, “Don’t take communion if you are unworthy.” Someone, who had given his heart to the devil, was incapable of receiving communion.
We are not to judge others, but we do recognize some, who are clearly self-defining themselves as followers of God or the devil. If someone acknowledges Jesus as Lord of his/her life, we can welcome them. If they blaspheme God by calling God’s work sinful or cursed; if they cannot claim Jesus as Lord, then we know they have made a choice for the other.
Again, we are cautioned not to ‘judge,’ but if someone declares their affiliation, we know that we are either called to witness Jesus’ saving grace to them or to flee from them.
Courting them as friends would be problematic. We could continue to keep them in our prayers and let God do the rest.
Go out and be ready for God to do mighty things in your life—for the glory of God.*

I need lessons like this. I have a friend who is mentally ill. She is wonderful when she is taking her medications, however, she has gone to one place where another friend works and talked to her boss and accused her of stealing, she than went to AAA and accused me of using my card in the wrong way, she than went to the work of man working with children and accused him of harming children. The same week she was put in the mental ward of the hospital. She has spoken terrible about Jesus and says she prays only to God. She has also said terrible things about Jesus. I keep upholding him as dying on the cross for my sins. She has mental problems however, I am being told to keep my distance because of the bad things she does to others. I know when Jesus is protecting me and warning me and am trying to witness but not be alone with her. Gods word tells us that no weapon that is formed against us will prosper and I am leaning on God for protection and guidance. Praise be to God.0
