Liking VS Commenting

Is it just me or does anyone else wish the like button was sparingly used or at least as an addition to commenting? Before the like button I found one big reason I kept coming back and logging and posting daily was because of the comments. Now it seems like everyone just goes through and clicks "like" for everything. I personally feel as an mfp friend I have a responsibility to encourage the same people that encourage me. I feel like it's my duty to comment more than just liking. And though I don't comment on every single post on my feed I do try to do it 80% of the time. I love my mfp family and couldn't have done it without them. Ever since the like button I've seen a less personalized experience and I think it takes away from the truly motivating experience. Thoughts? If anyone wants a friend that is committed to supporting them feel free to add me as one and hope you will return the favor. Oh and please put a note so I know you are serious about support!

I am guilty of just clicking the like button almost mindlessly. I did say almost because I do read. Sometimes I just don't have enough time in a day to go through everyone's post at the end of the day and comment on everything. You are absolutely correct though. It's a lot less personal and they should have an option for people to disable like buttons on their page.

For me if I like something it's because I don't have anything else to add sometimes it's bc I'm trying to get through everyone's stuff. I do look at everyone's open diaries and comment as needed but if I don't have anything to say I just like it. I do take the time to look and read posts I do tend to comment more often on those who comment on my stuff.
