Insanity!

Hey guys! So I just started Insanity by Shaun T. About a week and a half in. It's really tough though and I'm losing motivation. I know it's early but none of my friends work out so I'm doing this alone. Any advice and possible MFP friends would be appreciated!

Insanity is insane--and that's probably why you're burning out on it. My very in shape--thin (runner) niece thought she would do insanity, and that lasted about 2 days before she said "no mas." Find an exercise program that YOU like to do. And it could be anything, sports, a dance aerobic class, cycling, weights, that are geared to get and keep you in shape, and if you like it, you're bound to stick with it.
So many beginner exercisers on this board (not necessarily you) think they have to exercise every single day of the week, sometimes for 2 or more hours, in this frantic mission to lose weight, as quickly as they can. Once they hit their goal, if they don't die first, they're going to quit exercising all together, because they have worn themselves down to the bone.
Choose an exercise schedule that works with your schedule. Exercise routines are for life, not just for the now, meaning that you don't have to work out everyday, those muscles need a rest so they can rebuild. So try lots of different things, and then set a realistic schedule that will fit into your life for the rest of your life.
For me, it's Jazzercise, 3 to 4 times a week, and I have been doing it for decades now, because I LIKE to do it.0 -
Don't start so extreme. Try T25. I started with that. Only 25 minutes and you will get a workout. Don't worry about trying to keep up with him. Do what the modifier does or stop when you get tired. That is what I did. I found some parts hard for me but I did what I could and took a break when I needed it. Before you know it you will keep up with them and won't have to modify anything. Hope this helps.0

I'm about a week and a half in as well. I tried it last fall, but hurt myself and had to stop. It's definitely a tough program, and I agree with previous posters who said to find something you like and do it. However, if you enjoy Insanity, then think about the little changes you're making along the way & why you want to do the program. I like to make mini-challenges during each workout for myself rather than look at the program as a whole-- it's pretty intimidating!
Good luck to you!0 -
I've been doing INSANITY for a while now
it's a great program; it really changed the way I work out and the way I view exercise.
welcome! feel free to add me.0 -
Keep it up! Insanity is what made me lose the weight. I even went back for a second round.0
