edited September 23 in Health and Weight Loss
I have been doing this for almost 2 weeks now and I haven't noticed a significant change, I have been restricting what I eat to around 1200 or 1000(min) a day and exercising for an hour a day 6 days a week, I do have one day where I just eat whatever, but then I do extra exercise to compensate. I just don't feel as though I'm losing any weight! I want to lose 23lbs by July-ish or earlier (if any of you have any suggestions ?? for quicker weightloss that is :] )

So yeah, any help would be greatly appreciated!!

eat ALL your calories and atleast half of your exercise calories, lots of water and very little sodium as well as less carbs and more protein

You need to eat those exercise calories. You may be eating around 1200 calories, but you are exercising a lot of that away. Your body is not getting the 1200 net calories it needs to maintain itself properly. Be sure to eat most or all of those exercise calories up, drink tons of water and gets lots of rest. Then you should start seeing the scale move. Good luck!

Give it a little more time. You might want to eat up to your 1200 cals.

You could be making some changes inside that you might not actually see, so stick with it.
  • Just keep it up girl. Sometimes it sucks being a woman. We just dont shed poounds as easily as males. Stay positive and continue doing what you are doing sounds pretty reasonable to me.
Just a thought.. on the day that you "eat whatever you want" are you doing enough to burn all those extras calories? that could be whats blocking you. If you are eating 2500 calories but only burning 400 that day. you are still over your "goal intake"...see what I mean??
  • YOU NEED TO EAT THE EARNED EXERCISE CALORIES!!!

Let's look at it this way. Say MFP tells you that you need to consume 1200 calories a day. Okay...so now, you go exercise and burn off 600 calories. Meaning, that your body is now trying to function off of only 600 calories for the entire day. BAD. Your body has now just gone into starvation mode! Living off that few of calories is really bad for you. If you don't eat those exercise calories your body is going to try and store EVERYTHING that you eat because it is now afraid that you'll STOP feeding it! At THE VERY LEAST you need to eat (and maintain) 1200 calories a day. Meaning, if you burn 600 calories off, you need to eat enough to make sure you get back up to 1200. For your health AND your weight-loss goals!

How much weight have you lost in two weeks? I looks like you are loosing pretty quickly if you have only been doing this for 2 weeks.

thank you guys :) and trust me I'm not underweight :p those charts are usually off anyway because they are for adults and I'm only 18 and I'm quite small anyway. So I doubt that chart would apply to me.

I think it might be that I'm not getting enough rest and not drinking enough water so my metabolism is out. :)

    These posts really helped!

P.S no, haha urm i've only lost around 1/4 of that in two weeks, my scales were VERY off......i bought new ones, put in my new weight but it just added it on instead. i don't know how to adjust it so i just left it cause i know how much im wanting to lose and how much i weigh so it doesn't bother me really.

You have a good head on your shoulders from what i read. Just remember that a body my lose fat but gain muscle so while the scale is a good guide, your eyes are the best there is. The fit of your clothes and how they look on you are gonna show you the changes that the pounds may not. Also don't forget that your body may not let you achieve your goal weight and that is not failing. Our bodies have a max out point so while my goals are 115 or less reality is 125 might be all I can do now and it may look amazing! you will see with time and july is still 6 months away so just keep doing what you're doing. Eat healthy and take a multi vitamin and see how it goes. you may or may not reach 105 but you will have a rocking body!

Hey there! You know what, I'm tracking right about where you are. About the same goals and calorie intake and I'm having the same issues. I'll send you a friend request so we can help each other along. I'll tell you what though, as much as I hate to admit it, everyone here is right. On the days when I force myself to eat close to all of my calories, that's when the scales starts moving. If I don't eat them all, that scale doesn't budge. It frustrates me to no end because I'm really not a big eater to begin with, but I really do think there is some truth to what everyone keeps saying. :ohwell:

according to the latest woman's BMI chart you are smack in the middle of the underweight range already. Why do you need to lose 20 more pounds??

According to the BMI calculator on this site she is currently at 23.4 and will be a healthy 19.2 when she reaches her goal. This goal seems like a healthy choice to me.

As far as losing, when you are in the healthy ranges already you need to be very patient. You will not lose weight fast, not if you want to keep it off. And you need to eat a much smaller deficit than other people on the site to consistently lose weight.

I was able to lose 1lbs about every 10 days. I'm much taller than you so my calories won't work for you, but I set my loss at 1/2/week ate every calorie MyFitnessPal (MFP) asked me to and I also ate every calorie of my exercise calories. IF I ate less than this, I stopped losing weight. But I also was careful to be honest about how hard I worked in my workouts and I measured every morsel of food.

When you are thin-ish trying to get thin, you have to eat to lose weight. Please trust me on this and don't start a life long battle with food. Food is your partner in weight loss not the advisory here. Eat to lose, It really works.

Good luck on your journey and be patient. You want to lose it and live like this for the rest of your life, right? So you have plenty of time.

Bump. Being honest in measuring calories is the key.
