I'm new! Sugarfree Panda

hi Everyone! I am SugarfreePanda! I am 39 years old, I work and attend school fulltime, and raise two teenage boys.

Here is my story: I recently suffered from major fatigue (at least 6 months) and after a WONDERFUL hormone specialist I found recommended major bloodwork, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism. I also have low estrogen and progesterone, all which could cause my fatigue. I am now taking estadiol, levothyroid, progesterone, in addition to many recommended herbs and vitamins.

I am only a few days into my new "pill regime". I also gave up regular milk (now I drink rice milk), soda, caffeinated and otherwise, have cut down my sugar intake, working on eliminating white flour from my diet. I have always been a veggie muncher. I gave up red meat and pork 2+ years ago. I do not drink alcohol.

My question is: is there someone out there w/similar circumstances to mine, who has given up sugar and red meat, or maybe diagnose w/hypothyroidism that has some ideas for EASY eating ideas for me? I eat lots of nuts and veggies, beans, cottage cheese. I am looking for more ideas! I have ordered a book on hypothyroidism, but want to hear from a real person!

Hello & welcome!!! I have found a few things over the years do not agree with me and have given them up: FLOUR AND MILK. So no flour for me either and definiately no milk. Strictly whole foods. I'm also not adding oil or salt to my cooking regime and have found great results since beginning those (yes including Pam type products) It's not too hard and my food tastes amazing. My husband doesn drink (he hasn't in 17 years and I'm a byproduct of that). I really was never into drinking, so it wasn't an issue for me.

You can do this and you will feel great!

Hi, I'm new to the site as well (just haven't posted myself as a newbie yet). I've been diagnosed with hypothyroidism also and with rigorous searching online I've found out a few things that hopefully help. 1. Don't drink caffeine or dairy for 1-2 hours after you take your medication, it hinders the ability for your body to fully absors it. 2. After talking with you doctor and checking you T3?T4 levels try taking your med at night 2-3 hours after dinner and don't eat anything else until morning that way when you sleep your stomach is empty and you body slows down so it has more time to absorb. After a few days your energy will go up and you won't be as cranky either. I hope this helps, I've been hypo for quite a while so if you have any questions feel free to ask and hopefully I can help.

    Hi Sugar, and welcome.
I've got the thyroid thing and avoid the white foods as much as I can. This spot and the food diary give you the ability to see what you are eating extra of and what you need to have more of.

I"ve always looked for the magic potion. Let me know when you find it! I'll stay tuned in.
