Hi, my name is Crystal. Well I've been trying to lose weight for years. Its been an emotional roller coaster. I lose motivation fairly easy and often had the mind set that if I lost track of routine, then I needed to start all over again. I have come to terms that its nothing to do with routines or fad diets. Its a lifestyle change. I just want to be healthy. I don't care if I'm ever a size 6 again, as long as I'm healthy and happy with being me. I get bored with walking around, so I dance around the house with the kids and play the wii fit. I find it easier to involve the whole family and make it fun. So much better then working out by yourself.
So far I've lost 7 pounds, which is nice. But I have lots more to go!
:drinker:

When I heard about MFP, I joined but I wasn't sure if I wanted to actually use it. So I just started logging everything I ate - no matter how bad it was. I was just curious to see what I was eating.

But logging the food made me actually see it, and see the numbers. And when I would plan meals, I would know I had to log it, and I'd make better choices. It was just little steps like that.

A few tips about portion control: Keep measuring scoops nearby. Scoop up food in those instead of spooning it onto your plate. Then you'll know exactly how much food you're eating. 1/2 cup, 1/4 cup, etc. After doing this a while, you'll be able to eye it. (And for things that can't be scooped up, buy a cheap little scale from Wal-Mart and just measure stuff. A couple of weeks and you'll know exactly how much 3 oz is.)
