MFP Bet Idea thats working for us

We are 3 friends that all decided we wanted to lose weight over 3 months and we've tried all different methods before, but so far this has worked the best for us:
First of all its with friends so we trust each other to be honest about what we log and encourage each other to keep going.
Everyone sets their calorie goal based on what they are comfortable with - for example i set mine to lose 2 lbs per week
- We started with a pot of $50 each just to make it interesting
- Rule 1: Must complete the diary each day - if a person fails this they lose $5 for that day
- Rule 2: If you go over your daily calorie goal you put an additional $5 into the pot
- Weigh in at least once a week just to keep pushing each other to lose weight
- Use the status updates to keep track of how much we each owe and keep encouraging each other
- At the end of the 90 days the person who has lost the most percentage of weight wins the pot
Prior to this bet I used to start MFP and stop using it after a few days forgetting to log and then just letting it go by the wayside.
Now I've logged for 40 days in a row and have lost nearly 10 lbs. In the end I may lose the money, but I know I will have lost a lot of weight along the way!

So once the bet is over what's to stop you putting the weight back on? The problem I see is if you're motivation is money I struggle to see how this will be a long term change for you. Congratulations on your achievement already but maybe have a look at your long term motivations. Good luck0

Great job thus far, but I agree with Zardoz, what are you going to do when no one pays you? Will you continue on?0
