Hi all.... Please be patient with me as I am new to this. I'm looking for exercise advice ..... I'm already doing gentle walks. A week ago I had 'stents' .... All went very well. I am following a healthy eating plan .... Need to lose 2stone ..... Keeping the food diary on this app is a great motivator. Would appreciate any advice ..... Thank you

My favorite has been the elliptical, you can go at whatever level you like but it works the arms and legs and is pretty easy on the joints. If you don't have gym equipment just keep on walking, start swinging the arms and build up distance and speed.

If you have just had stents, your doctor should be advising you on appropriate exercise and appropriate levels of exertion.

That said, my general feeling is to do the exercise you enjoy, as you are more likely to do it. Dance, swim, bike -- what movement do you enjoy? When you do what you enjoy, rather than what you're "supposed" to do, you're most likely to keep doing it.

Mine is bicycling. I love the feeling of freedom of being on a bike. It's also an exercise that you can tailor to your preferred (or medically indicated) level of exertion. When I can't bike due to weather or roads, I walk.

    Agreed, ask your doctor.

Ask your doctor what your restrictions are and also what he recommends and go from there. Try a few different things to see what you like. You may find one that you like best, or you may like to mix it up. I find swimming to be a great low/non-impact exercise, but don't always have access to a pool.

meh lost this thread. What the others said in that any exercise needs to be done with the knowledge, co ordination and approval of your Dr. Start slow and steady plus you will need to listen to your body and be cautious as you gradually increase. As pointed out at the beginning its the level of exertion you need to watch out for.

This was a very good article to give you an idea on the approach.
