Feeling sad and discouraged

I feel a little bit sad that I didn't keep my deficit this week. Because of...well, hormones.

This time of month I eat EVERYTHING I normally don't eat. Lots of candybars, ice cream and....haha....dairy products. (Like ANYTHING with dairy, milk, cheese, cream you name it and I devour it)

I'm probably a little over my maintenance this week. I know I'll make up for it afterwards again, but my deficit is so small and this is discouraging me for some reason. I dunno, maybe the emotions are because of hormones too?

Glad you shared! I know this probably seems like a cheesy thing to say, but just because you were affected by that awful thing we girls go through, doesn't mean everything is over. This is one of the roadblocks that we as women have to go through, and trust me I know: It sucks. The best advice I can give you is to try and forget this week and just move on. Like jimmy0911 said, "keep your head up"
As for next month, try and remember everything you are feeling right now. Maybe next time the thought of feeling this discouragement again will kick those nasty hormones right out of your head! Good luck, and I hope your mood picks up!!!
  • Thank you, I know you're right. I normally don't think this way.

By this way I mean : "oh what the heck. I've already screwed it up, might as well just give up and screw it up further."

I feel the same way. I've been in a bad mood for 3 days. I was craving peanut butter & chocolate. I just keep telling myself it will get better. So just keep moving forward. It will get better. Just remember why you started & focus on that.

Ah, yes. It can be such a hard time for us. While I think it's okay to give in to a few cravings, just try not to go off the rails too much. I find that exercise can help during that terrible time. At least it can help offset the extra chocolate... I try to distract myself and remember that it'll be over soon!
  • Ahaha. I luckily don't get too many chocolate cravings. It's mostly for dairy products. For example, I normally drink skim milk, but around this time I will drink out like a whole litre of full cream milk. It's insane.

I swear I have like a massive calcium deficit around this time.

When Im sad and unmotivated I do a couple of things one I put a bunch of new music on my mp3 to get me motivated. Then I force myself to get out and so something doesnt matter what it is even taking a walk, working out, going to see a movie, go shopping SOMETHING! I promise you it will cheer you up. Dont let your mind get the best of you because if your anything like me the more I get sad the worse I do on my diet and then I feel guilty about all the bad stuff I ate and I guilt eat lmao its a vicious awful cycle

Usually my drawings distract me enough to keep me from eating. But it doesn't really help this time around. I am starting over again tomorrow. (Because today is already over where I live lol)

I have been over my calories for 3 days. Yesterday was pretty darn bad.

I was just ending my TOM and I am perimenopausal. That was the first "REAL" TOM I have had in probably more than a year! My hormones have been crazy. I was taking progesterone just to have a TOM. I also had a D&C to try and get me back on track.

That being said, I looked back at my progress, food, and how LITTLE protein I was getting.

I am going to try and up my protein significantly to see if I can curb the HUNGER.

You are not alone, we are all doing it. I would really look into your protein/carb/fat ratio and see if you can tweak it a bit.

Just try to stick close to your goals where possible. I've bombed this week as I was eating out and drinking for most of the week and its going to hit hard at next weigh-in. So, we all have rough patches but its how we react and battle on that counts. Stick to you meal plans whenever possible, plan in healthy snacks and try to get out and about to gain some calories to play with. In the meantime, watch this funny (oldie but goodie) video to make you laugh...since you love Cats :)

    Lol! Thanks...
  • I would like to add to the already good advise, is that because you did bad for a couple of days, it doesn't mean its over, keep going, jump back on the wagon, it happens to everyone, we are human!

I would say look into natural things that help with balancing hormones, like Maca, flaxseed, anything with Omega 3's. Have you thought about incorporating green juices? Its great for your health and losing weight.

Don't get discouraged because of this roadblock, look for solutions and keep going!

    Feel free to add me!

I'm the same way every single month. Typically have two days when I eat over 3000 calories... But it doesn't last, and I can get back on track the next week. Just get back on track and try to stick to it on days when it's easier to.
