So this morning I've been thinking about nutrition, fitness, and weight loss goals for the next month--maybe I'll call this my "Spring Fling" and go from Feb 21-March 21, first day of spring, thank god.
I haven't solidified my thoughts yet, but I think at least I can put together a gym schedule that works for me. And BIG goal on Monday--set up an appt. with trainer at the Y to start strength training. Actually, there's no reason I can't make that call today.... Hmmmmm.

Back from our little mini vacation...except I went to someplace that quite possibly had more snow than we do! Ugh. Didn't plan that one too well! lol. Anyway, back to the grind and I also decided along with writing everything down, that for Lent I am giving up starches. Sort of. I am going to allow myself 1 starch a day vs 1 or 2 starches every meal! So far I have failed twice! Man I suck at being Catholic AND at losing weight! Oh well. I will keep plugging away!
Karen, what Y do you go to?
Diana back in Maine after a little mini vaca

Welcome back, Diana!
I go to the one in Freeport (casco bay ymca) for laps, aqua tai chi, and aqua zumba. I go to Pineland in New Gloucester for Aqua toning and harness swimming. I'll probably go to freeport for weight training, or just pay planet fitness $10 and go to windham. Freeport is a 30 minute drive, pineland 20, windham 15. We should meet up and do an aqua class together!

Funny...Karen we must be of the same mindset. I created a calendar, especially for starting to do workouts/weigh training. So I am going to work out a plan of action. Am disgusted with myself....need to gain momentum and get back on the right path! Both of you stay warm!! A bit overcast here today...sandstormish again! And temp dropped.0

It was -15 at 8:00 this morning. Almost noon, now warming up to a whopping 3 degrees. This has been the coldest, snowiest winter on record. Our propane costs (for heat) are crazy in this drafty house. Time to replace some windows!!
As soon as I can thaw enough to get my brain working, I'll post some goals. Nancy, I'm excited that you're going to weight train too!!

Fitness goals
For now, I'm going with a four week, fling into spring plan.
Mon Morning: Aqua Tai Chi and Weight Training at Casco Bay
Tues & Thurs Evening: Aqua Toning class and Harness Swimming at Pineland
Weds Morning: Weight Training at Casco Bay
Fri Evening: Laps at Casco Bay
Sat Morning: Aqua Zumba and Weight Training at Casco Bay
Sun: Day of Rest, or laps if I feel like it
I think this is doable, but I'll have to see how my joints respond to the weight training. I'm heading to the Y shortly--hopeefully I can schedule a trainer for Monday.
Nancy, where do you go to work out?
