My weight has been going up and down for years, mostly up, and it's past time for me to do something. I've tried things before, but never remained dedicated to it. I need to be healthier for my kids, and to like what I see when I look in the mirror.

Welcome and congrats for getting started on this. There are people here who have done incredible things and I’m sure you will find the best route for you as well. Just be patient, persistent, and smart about your goals.

Hi. I'm in the same boat. I started on here last year and I've lost 40lbs. I've got another 40 to go. My Fitness Pal absolutely works. In the past year I've dropped 2-3 sizes. I discovered that I love running and can now run several miles without stopping and I've found that I don't have to cut any food out of my diet. I just have to have enough calories burned so I can eat it while losing weight.

If you haven't logged your calories before it is super tedious at first, but within a week or two it becomes routine. Try to weigh and measure your foods as much as possible so you can determine what portion sizes actually are. The first time I saw an ounce of cheese I almost had a heart attack. I was eating like 4 times that.

Good luck and feel free to send me a friend request if you'd like.

I'm also committed to weight loss this time. It seems like I've been dieting since I was 18, sometimes successfully, most times I just gain it all back.
I'm not extremely overweight, but I have knee issues, and I feel like losing weight will help that and also allow me to reach a higher level in my sport. I have some specific goals too, I want to be able to lift heavier, do chin ups and push ups, run faster, and someday do a triathalon.
I'm 36, so I feel like this is my last chance in life to really turn things around and be what I always wanted to be!
