How do you record food at a restaurant you don't know the calories for?

I like getting a small cheeseless pineapple pizza at Pizza Hut, I've been using someone's cheeseless pepperoni version for my calorie inputs but obviously that's wrong.
What about for other places though? I live in England right now and there are a lot of places with no calorie information and I have no idea what's in the food.

I just guestimate. Either from a similar entry (you're from the UK, so if I went to one of our generic chain pubs and couldn't fit any nutritional info for their 8oz steak and chips, I'd find the same meal at a competitor chain and use that) or from logging the component parts of the meal, adding in a bit of extra oil/butter to cover what they probably used cooking it.
Obviously you can never know if that's accurate, so I aim high and hope for the best. As long as it's not happening every day it's probably not going to be a stumbling block.0 -
You may be able to ask for a calorie chart or ask that they start making one for their foods. As far as keeping track of it, just chose from what already exists on MyFitness in hopes it's close to how much you've consumed. Sorry if it wasn't
as helpful as you'd hoped good luck0 -
If you're weighing accurately at home it makes it easier. Let's say you get something like spaghetti and meat balls with garlic bread. You're probably getting about 3 servings of pasta (600 calories), 4-6 ounces of ground beef...etc. Estimate the amount of table spoons of red sauce, find a decent looking entry for the garlic bread. Always consider a tablespoon of oil.0

I just consider the meal a treat and do my best logging it then move forward0

i look at a few restaurant options and choose one. it won't be exact, but it is close enough for me.0

Thanks guys!
@arditarose and @yesimpson your responses seem like what I should at least TRY to do.
I think I might be severely underestimating my eating out meals, so this guesstimating needs to get better.0 -

Yep! The more accurate you are at home, the more accurate your guessing is. I estimated 4000 calories yesterday between my normal meals and eating out...Pretty sure I'm correct within 500 calories0
