I was wondering if anyone uses a hula hoop for exercise? I am kind of interested in adding it to my routine especially with summer right around the corner! I've read that there are weighted hoops you can buy online but I was just going to use the old fashion light weight ones to start. Maybe if I really get into I'll get the weighted one  I've heard its part of Marisa Tomei's exercise routine.

I think it would be fun... not sure exactly how beneficial a non-weighted one is though. I've tried the weighted ones that are kinda of bumpy/wavy on the inside and they really hurt me. IDK it's like they bang against my ribs/hips/stomach too much. If you are going to use a weighted on I suggest finding a smooth one instead.

I know even doing the wii fit hula hoop activity (no actual hoop involved!) is a killer cardio workout, AND I totally feel it in my abs the next day. I would imagine the weighted hoops would add even more to the challenge,

I used to LOVE to hula hoop as a little girl. Well, my daughter who is 6 just got one. OMG! I can't keep the stinking thing up anymore, LOL. It's way harder as an adult. Oh and so is that cartwheel I decided to demonstrate to my daughter too. She must think I'm such a dork!

I'm wondering if the weighted one might be easier to keep up?

I love hooping!! I have a weighted hula hoop and love it! The Wii FitPlus, as mentioned earlier, is also a heck of a work out with the 'virtual hula hoops'. Hooping is a great way to get a cardio work out and have fun doing it. :drinker:
