Use burned calories?

So I lost 100 lbs on weight watchers, but hit a multi-month plateau, so I switched.

I'm at another plateau (actually slow increase).

I am using a fitbit charge hr and I'm wondering if it's not actually over-calculating burned calories?

My main point is should I shoot for the food goal (mine is 1500/day) and forget about calories burned or should I try to use those too?

1500 is MFP's lowest default minimum for men, so it's very likely you can eat more & still lose weight. Shorter, older folks may need to go that low to see results. MFP's goal of 1500 is before any exercise.

Anyway, re: FitBit Charge.....the FitBit group has tons of information. It can help you sort out the calorie burns shown (more accurate for some types of exercise).

    Check your food logging http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1296011/calorie-counting-101/p1

Eat back half your exercise adjustment, although my fitbit is unerringly accurate for me

Thanks folks! I like this idea of eating half. I may also be used to the non-hr fitbit I had. With my resting HR around 55, it probably doesn't take much to burn more...and the weight loss battle continues

If you're coming off of Weight Watchers, I have to ask: Are you logging vegetables and fruit?

A lot of people eat half. I don't use a fitbit (gasp!) so I dunno about those things.

As mentioned above, everything counts when you're counting calories, including fruits and veggies. I have heard WW doesn't count them for that plan. I'm not slamming it! It sounds like a good plan. It's just different when you're counting calories. :)

Are you using a food scale to accurately measure food? I have used a fitbit and I prefer the Polar H7 that I am using now. I find that it is more accurate.

Weigh your food and don't plan on eating back your exercise calories, if you happen to go over a bit thats okay, planning to workout so you can eat that piece of cake isn't real productive and doesn't help you change your eating habits in the long run.

Per the plateau. Are you weighing your food? Are you counting fruits and vegetables?

If you were eating 1500 cal/day, you would be losing weight.

    I suggest opening your diary...
