Just got home from spending 5 hours working in our master gardener demo garden. Only four of us showed up to help. Everyone whimped out because they could not take 100 degrees of sweating, fly bites, nats and sweat bees along with broken drip lines, liquid fence and fish emolusions. Gee, I wonder why they didn't want that kind of fun.
July 29: 5 miles if beastly hot and humid running along with five miles of walking not mention hours of garden work. Phew...I am bushed
    TTD: 295.2 miles

@clepant- a good friend of mine is a master gardener and she says the time commitment is always much higher than she anticipated. But she loves it and is trying to convince my husband to go for it too :) I don't know about gardening when the weather is hazy, hot and humid though (which we also see a lot of in Harrisburg area)

Decided to ride at 10 am this morning. It was only 88 degrees. it is now around 100 and by 4pm will be about 105. This pattern will be through the weekend. So tomorrow morning I will hit it even earlier. Our low temp last night was 70. Bonus miles and TdF challenge with my injuries is an accomplishment.,

    07/29 - 11.0 miles cycling
    07/30 - 12.0 miles cycling

    Total: 261.0 miles

Pic is of a ride my son and I took up Mt Bachelor, we are about halfway up to the ski resort. Back finally said 'oh no you don't!'

3.5 mile walk - had to split it up. I came across a fire in the woods near one of the lakes and called the police dept. Had to wait for the fire dept to show up which took longer than I expected. And somehow they approached it from the back. But while I was waiting, I walked back and forth and got my steps in.

Got another 2.5 miles in today at lunch! That makes 75 miles toward my goal of 60.

Was also looking at my log for the month and see that I had a good month in that I only took 2 complete rest days where I didn't do some deliberate form of exercise. That's pretty good for me. And upon closer inspection, what makes me prouder is that I walked at lunch 20 times this month and didn't miss a day in 4 weeks. I also did more than one workout 6 times, which I really need to do better than that though...at least double that...or more if I really want to improve my fitness.

@queengreene:I am just north of Pittsburgh so I am sure we are sharing the same lovely weather. Not all of the work is done in the summer so you can do things all year. I was a Phipps MG since 98 but this year switched over to Penn State MG program. I am much happier and the garden I work in is only a few miles from my home so a big plus. It is lots of fun. I am only required to put in 20 hours per year and 10 hours continuing education. At Phipps Botanical I had to do 36 a year and 12 education time. The start up is lots of hours of classes and the initial year has more. But if you like gardening, you meet lots of people and learn lots too.

I'm closing out the month. I am going to head to the cabin tomorrow for a much NEEDED rest. DH is much better but is staying home to get harvesting machines ready & NO I am not taking grandkids nor the 3 furry kids either.
I am meeting up with my sister & other female friends for a girls day by the water! It is always soooo much fun!
Today I helped our local sporting goods store with there annual side walk sale. It was HOT & I do the outside duties so my lower part of legs are aching tonite. Too much cement!
Here is my July total & I will see ya all in August! Really? August already? I want to cry because it was the worst summer I have ever had!! I hope my school year flies by as fast as the summer breaks do!
